There’s a BIG difference between signing a million dollar deal and having a million dollars in your bank account…..Take for instance ASAP Rocky, niggaz was butt hurt over his 3mil deal like the record company just said…sign right here and here’s your sack of money, now bring us that hit…Nah, that money you reading about goes to marketing/promotion budgets, servicing radio programming directors, tour buses, producers, studio time, video shoots, photo shoots…..It really DOES cost to be the BOSS…at the end an artist is probably left w/ 250,000 to play w/ which is good money, but if you got niggaz in the hood you looking out for and greedy baby moms that shit can evaporate pretty quick…Ray Cash probably NEVER ever seen a mil in his life…No Shots, but he probably had a mil spent on promoting his last major label project….A Professor at an A&R class I took at UCLA told me it takes at least a million dollars to BREAK a new artist regardless of music genre…..Think about that…..

No doubt….You gotta look at a record deal like taking out student loans for college….Yeah, all that money sounds good on paper, but the student loans go directly to your tuition first before being dispersed to your bank account….Same goes for an advance from a record label, money has to be set aside to pay your manager, your lawyer, and so on and so forth before you get to make it rain at the strip club….Like I said, I’ve met sum cool individuals in my time that looked out and put me up on game….Ol’ boy who raps first on that “Teach Me How To Dougie” was a DJ first, he deejayed at my nieces B-Day party a year and a half before that song dropped, real humble kid, his Pops would drive him to the parties he had to DJ at and help him unload his equipment….A Nigga w/ prior work experience has nothing to worry bout when the spotlight stops shining….But…..That Memphis Bleek ass nigga, who’s very first paycheck is from music will most likely turn to selling drugs to finance their music careers when it’s all said and done….Rapping & Trapping is all them niggaz know….they missed out on that phase in everyone’s life where you learn how to fill out a job application….Royalty checks are annual too, they don’t come in the mail on a weekly or bi-weekly basis….The music biz is a serious hustle, if thats what you choose to pursue.

Last year, Comcast, Cablevision, Verizon, and Time Warner Cable agreed to take steps to combat piracy on their networks. Translation: the ISPs said they would monitor your internet traffic and make your life hell if they suspect you’re up to illegal file sharing.
Speaking at the Association of American Publishers’ annual meeting, RIAA CEO Cary Sherman says that the ISPs are all on track to kick off the “anti-piracy initiative” by July 12th. What exactly that means depends varies from ISP to ISP. CNET reports:
The program, commonly referred to as “graduated response,” requires that ISPs send out one or two educational notices to those customers who are accused of downloading copyrighted content illegally. If the customer doesn’t stop, the ISP is then asked to send out “confirmation notices” asking that they confirm that they have received notice.
They will also be informed of the risks they incur if they don’t stop pirating material. The ISP then can ratchet up the pressure. The ISPs can choose from a list of penalties or what the RIAA calls “mitigation measures” that include throttling down the customer’s connection speed to suspending Web access until the subscriber agrees to stop pirating. The ISPs can waive the mitigation measure if they choose.

As a youngin learning the in’s and out’s of hip hop, I bought illmatic and fell in love with it. Its a flawless album, the 9 songs were just about perfect.
But as I get older, I’m starting to lean towards It was written, granted it’s not a flawless album like illmatic. But It was written is like the greatest display of rapping I’ve ever heard. The nonchalant sound of Nas’ flows, it sounds like he’s not even trying while being so technical with it. Dude was spitting crazy multies without it even sounding forced.. Plus his bars got them quotables. Idk what else I could want.

AUSTIN, Texas – Homeless people are being turned into walking Wi-Fi aerials as part of a “charitable experiment” by a New York ad agency.
Bartle, Bogle and Hegarty (BBH) handed out free Novatel Wireless MiFi gadgets to the peddlers — along with T-shirts bearing their names and the words “I’m a 4G hotspot” — for its Homeless Hotspots project at the South by Southwest (SXSW) arts and tech festival in Austin, Texas.
The company will promote the concept among homeless shelters in New York City and elsewhere if the response is good, BBH chief Saneel Radia told The New York Post.
“These are homeless individuals. They’re carrying MiFi devices. Introduce yourself, then log on to their 4G network via your phone or tablet for a quick, high-quality connection,” the company said on its website.
“This year in Austin, as you wander between locations murmuring to your coworker about how your connection sucks … you’ll notice strategically positioned individuals wearing ‘Homeless Hotspot’ T-shirts.”
