Video: Common Talks Drake

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Following Pusha T’s light jab over “Sweet” last night, Sway got Common to spill the beans on the song after Drake allegedly responded to him at Power 106′s Cali Christmas Concert (literally the last thing he says in the video) where Com was present and had performed earlier in the night with Big Sean.

It kinda sorta makes sense but not really, here he says: “the verse is about me, but then when you hear some of the stuff on the chorus it’s like you can’t help but think about dude I guess.”

Listen to the song here. It’s just funny at this point because Common’s talking about Drake wanting to make it subliminal when really he shot first and has had maybe 100 interviews since asking about the song and has only brought it up on the day his album dropped.

Definitely agree on his point about KRS-One/Nas/Jay/Wayne/MC’ing.

Video: Elzhi – Memory Lane

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

In this video, Elzhi takes his audience back in time to the Mid-90′s, and into Maurice Malone’s Hip-Hop Shop. The Shop was the heart of the Detroit hip hop scene where many collaborated, battled and shared music. It was there that a young Elzhi first grabbed the microphone to prove that he had the ability to become one of the greatest rappers alive.

Music executive and artist manager Jae Barber, also a Detroit native, provided an authentic picture of the world Elzhi revisits in his nostalgic spin on Nas’ classic song, “Memory Lane.” The video includes rare visuals of various artists such as Eminem and Royce da 5’9. Amongst the many artists included are the late Baatin, Proof and J Dilla.
