At Friday’s Madlib Medicine Show tour stop in San Francisco, the producer announced a collaborative project with the rapper Freddie Gibbs. Gibbs also debuted “Thuggin’” and “Deep,” from their debut EP. The 6-track record is released on Madlib’s Madlib Invazion label – the imprint the producer founded to release his 13 Madlib Medicine Show volumes. The duo’s as-of-yet untitled album is planned for release in first quarter 2012.

Freeway’s a walking fashion feature. Here he shows off symbolic jewelry honoring album releases and his group State Property, as well as the shirt off his back from a clothing line he’s developing. But there’s something deeper too, with Freeway crediting his rap career to a school-age love of violin and poetry. Born and raised Philly, in December Freeway traveled to Africa for the first time to perform, and you can tell he’s still proud and impressed by the places his music has taken him.

Termanology and Ea$y Money have come together with The DJBooth to bring listeners their collaborative street release, the S.T.R.E.E.T. mixtape. Their first project together since the early 2000s, when the emcees (then high-school classmates) launched their careers as members of hip-hop crew St Da Squad, the tape features 14 original records from the one-time partners-in-rhyme. Produced entirely by Lee Bannon, S.T.R.E.E.T. features guest appearances by Fred The Godson, REKS, Kali, and the entire St Da Squad crew (Term, Ea$y, Hectic, Artisin, Ghetto, Superstah Snuk, Clip, Stalion and DJ Deadeye).
