I couldn’t fuck with Lupe AT ALL.

Too much BS surrounding the release. I get the sentiment but the album & Lupe’s off record antics turned me off to it before it even dropped. Might have to revisit it in the year end round up just to see if I missed something first time around.

Wiz gets shat on but Rolling Papers has some joints (sic). Just gotta be in an elevated mindstate to sit through the entire album.

Prolly looked much better on paper.

Still, the amount of hype & conversation about that album, for it to live up to a 10th of the expectations is admirable.

There are some average moments on there but Jay gives us some great verses on dongs like No Church In The Wild, New Day & Why I Love You So.

Not a classic album by any means but a high quality release. Among the best of 2011.

CDIH is the best gangster rap album of the year but so many cats were offering fresh alternatives to that stale genre.

It’s in my top 10 easily but the messages on my other picks are grounded in reality. Makes it hard for cliche ridden material to elevate above it, regardless of how good it is.

Took me a few tries but Section.80 kinda reminds me of an Outkast album just in the ways K Dot tries to be creative & think outside of the box. Alot of cats aren’t gonna “get it” but repeat listens will yield some gems. An album for the children birthed under Reganomics. It doesn’t have the kind of traditional “hits” we’ve come to expect in 2011 which is why so many dismiss it but there’s an honesty there that’s more endearing then the tough guy posturing so many rappers use as a default.

I’ve purchased every Jeezy album, first day (although I did chuck my first copy of TM101 out of moving car window), but nothing I’ve heard since Trap or Die 2 has me the least bit interested in this record. Hope Jeezy proves me wrong however.

Alot of cats aren’t gonna “get it” but repeat listens will yield some gems. An album for the children birthed under Reganomics. It doesn’t have the kind of traditional “hits” we’ve come to expect in 2011 which is why so many dismiss it but there’s an honesty there that’s more endearing then the tough guy posturing so many rappers use as a default.

Nah, Drake has a bunch of solid radio hits on Take Care. Maybe not traditional in a Hip-Hop sense, but there are songs that are formatted for some kinda radio/video play.

Cole on the other hand…his album has moments but when your free pre album material is better then the songs you saved for the album, something is wrong.
