Also, right now sales taxes are state and local … this would be a federal tax on top of that, so NY’s sales tax would be 15-16% … not the 9% Cain advertises.

The typical family of 4 making $60-70k, who right now pay $5,000 or so in taxes a year (income and payroll taxes, plus sales) would probably pay double that under the 9-9-9 plan.

Oh … and the US now raises around $2.2T in taxes … 9-9-9 estimates range from 1.3T to 1.75T.

So you can pretty much forget about police, fire and teachers … they’d all have to be fired.
