Its funny because when it first dropped I was leading the charge saying 808 was shitty album, during this time he was fresh off winning the sales battle w/ Curtis and it was all Kanye everything. When the album dropped niggas was saying Kanye is genius and this album is genre defining….SMH…I’m thinking he did a Pop album w/ autotune how is that genius?….niggas was spewing a lot of silly rhetoric…months later when all the Kanye hoopla died down I gave it another listen w/out any judgements made…and realized it wasn’t that bad, rather decent actually

It’s a really good, fun, and UNIQUE sounding pop record. People complain about every rapper wanting the beats of the same heavyweight producers, but in pop it’s even worse. Kanye’s pop album was a lot more inventive and fresh than any other pop album in the years surrounding.
His best albums are LAte Registration and College Dropout, but 808s still deserves it’s praise.
