That whole Slum situation is sad man…Dilla stopped fucking with them, and Baatin was on heavy drugs that didn’t help with his mental health problems.
I saw Slum open for Phife dog during the Fantastic days, and Dilla wasn’t there. Homie’s health probably didn’t really help out the group’s touring and all that.
They had to add another MC, Elzhi is dope, but yeah the chemistry was never the same. They had moments, but it was never the same. I don’t even listen to the Slum material without Dilla, and I’m a Dilla stan. But T3 and Baatin had to try and keep the group together because Slum was a brand name and they could do a lot better as Slum Village rather than changing their name or going solo.
