the first two times I saw Raekwon, I had that same problem. Homie was out of his mind, first time he just cut the show short because he couldn’t even see straight. Second time he had the Ice Water cats with him and they were all wildin’. He let them just take over because he had to go sit down LMAO.
Saw him with Redman for a Rock the Bells tour when he signed to Aftermath, and he wasn’t fucking around. Seems like since then he got his head straight and started to actually care about his stage show and new music.

He almost broke down and cried when he performed the ODB tribute song off the album. Then Wyclef randomly came on the stage to freestlye and Rea came back with a surprisingly sick sick freestlye.

Around my way…the local hipster/trendy bars have been keeping it real. I hate to sound cliche…but on a Friday or Saturday night you can go to a bar and hear real hip-hop. The asian DJ’s and crowds have a big part in keeping the older music alive. Like, you can go and hear Watch Out Now or Off the Books and the place will go apeshit. ODB to DMX to Mobb Deep…it’s like a resurgance right now. It won’t be as poppin as the $20 entry clubs downtown, but there’s a demand for it, no dress code and lots and lots of females. Shit is lovely.
April 29th, 2011 at 8:35 pm
@Camelot – good point. My all time favorite show I was at was when the whole Wu put on a NYC show, but ODB was on the run from multiple warrants.
Rza stops the show midway and says “the whole wu hasnt been on the same stage in like 7 years” then he runs down the list and when he gets to Old Dirty Bastard, the Shimmy Shimmy Ya beat starts playin and the dude with the orange hoody playin the back comes to the front and starts singin and everyone realizes its actually ODB. MAN that place went SPAM, fuck goin Ham

Yo it was easily the best show I have ever been to. Shit was all over the news the next day cause he was wanted by NYPD. After he rapped, he went into a drunken rant talkin about “Im like a beautiful flower growin from the dirt..yo, the cops about to be here” and dropped the mic and ran off backstage. Sick shit

Its an overall above average joint. Some good puns and play on words. Yes, SlimShady-esque in presentation of subject matter but NOT CLOSE in deleivery (before niggas start).
The nigga’s baritone has a command to it though. But his basic fill-the-bars-flow could use some tweaking, maybe some influctions errnow and then? I’m typing a paper and some of the verses I slept-walked through because it got REALLY monotonous.
I mean if I’m listening to a Freeway verse, I’m LISTENING to a Freeway verse, not some “oh damn I just missed like 6 bars gotta skip back a few seconds.” He knows how to use his voice, and the flow keeps you entertained before the bars do.
That all being said, the song is a 6 out of 10.
Yonkers was a 7.

>>> LOL @ this nigga writing a paper and writing a review with the off hand.
But this has essentially been my problem with Tyler’s flow. It gets monotonous, EARL’s lightyears ahead of him.
But if he keeps producing beats like these he’ll be good.

No, but if you take a look at who he works with as far as producers…
He works with some of the illest producers who are equally as powerful as he is…..
Case in point: Rick Rubin. Now, why would Rick Rubin be “scared” to tell Sean, “no, this shit sucks!”…..
He wouldn’t be….
Jay-Z, I think has a great ear as well, I think he knows what sounds good, that’s why I think none of his albums went wood…
As well as having incredible artists on his roster both on Roc-A-Fella as well as Rocnation….
