I dunno man, to me his lyrics are better when delivered with his old flow. They match.
With his more straight foreword deliver you really get to notice how empty those lines are.
Plus his lines are missing that free-associative element that he had earlier. This was a big part of his appeal for me and pretty much made up for his lack of depth on its own.

Thing is, songs like Bag Music [with USDA] and I Got This were dope and different from the synth heavy stuff that dominated his last two LPs.
Instead he decided to go the more predictable route, and it worked on one song [Lose My Mind] and sucked on the others [Jizzle, All White Everything, etc.].

————————————————
Trust me dude, I pretty much consider Ross a Jeezy variant even now. I wrote a review of his Hard in the Paint remix in his blog saying that both of those guys were. There’s no depth to Ross’ punchlines, he’s Jeezy with slick beats in place of hard beats, and slick lines in places of simple ones.
And yes, Jeezy’s rawness is his only selling point lyrically. I’d be the first one complaining if he tried to become an MC to the detriment of the emotion punch of his music.
But that doesn’t mean he should try to make some changes to his sound that don’t involve essentially writing songs other southern rappers specialize in. All White Everything may as well be a Gotti song, Jizzle is horrible, and the mixtapes have been awful.

my own worst enemy, a menace to self
digital scales, more trees than timberland shelves
a good guy, but deep down the villain excels
our spirits in a prison, break it down we livin in cells
