Yes, opinions themselves are debated since that’s their primary purpose, but opinions are not synonymous with argument. Truths aren’t reached with debates, because the debates themselves are based on one (possibly-yet-to-be) validated truth against another.
I understand what you mean when you say an opinion can become truth (in a sense), but this bears nothing on the truth of the opinion itself. If attitude about N.OR.E. is X, fire at will with whatever, album sales, grammys, street acceptance, impact, legacy, whatever you got. Any thing you were to theoretically hit me with will be a series of presented truths, logically organized to form a (wait for it…) a valid argument. But the argument itself stems from your belief (as in you opinion) that N.O.R.E. is in fact not wack and deserves my recognition (or recognition in general). Yes it’s true that you believe that, but your belief itself has no truth, nor any fallacy. VA gun laws are based on the belief that guns are “generally okay.” DC differs. Neither state (or district) is wrong or illegitimate. Its an opinion, and the opinion itself needs no validation or rationale to stand.

Truth that is gleaned from the first person experience is NOT absolute– its a belief that a person holds due to being told something that has been accepted by the populace at LARGE-
For example-
We have been told our entire lives that the sky is Blue. We accept it, we tell others, and we pass this information on because we have BEEN told it is TRUTH.
But what if you were a child who has been told your entire life that the sky is RED?
What would you say to the person who told you, “Nah son, the sky is Blue?”
Thats the difference between an Absolute Truth (truth gained from personal experience) and Ingrained Truth (truth gained from other sources).
This is the essential difference between beliefs and Opinions– you can believe whatever you want, from things you are told to things you read, but that information may or may not be true– however, it is YOUR TRUTH.
And thats fine.
However, once you begin to voice your TRUTH, it becomes an opinion if it does NOT jive with what the ACCEPTED truth is. To your point about Nore– I don’t want you, or ever need you to recoginize Nore as dope- My actual point was about Opinions in general, and how they become validated. However, the generally held CONCENSUS is that War Report and NORE are two phenominal albums, and that Nore was quite the dope rapper. You not even LISTENING to that album or judging him by Superthug shows a clear disconnect from the information that WE (the people who hold the opinion that Nore is dope) are using to VALIDATE OUR OPINIONS.
This ties into the VA vs. DC gun laws. DC, per capita, has more Murders or violent crime (myself included- I got shot in DC) than the ENTIRE STATE OF VA. Based on that information, plus the fact that DC has no hunting or sport fishing areas clearly give credience to the reasoning used by both states concerning Gun Laws. They didn’t say–
DC Mayor- ” I’ve never checked out our violent crime statistics, but I seen this one video one timeabout guns, so I don’t like em, Ban em”
Thats essentially the stance you have told us you have taken concerning Nore.
Regardless, its your stance to make– just be prepared to defend your opinion if you plan on sharing it.
