Listening to Stalley on my way home last night, after I went on my mini anti Lupe rant, I realized a way to much better articulate my feelings about Lupe’s message and music.
Its not that positive messages\uplifting rhymes\”concious” rap is bad persay, it just depends on the delivery. Lupe forces it down your throat no homo, and alot of times it just comes off corny and isnt really some shit I wanna lean to on the car ride to\from work.
Listening to Stalley.. you dont really notice it off the bat.. but intelligent subjects, extremely limited if any foul language, but he still talks fly.. It gives you that same uplifting and positive feeling but in a much more subtle and pleasing way.

Dizzee changed up from Grime to more poppy/dance tunes cause that’s what charts and makes money.
It’s a shame cause the best UK rappers that are dope on grime riddims and freestyles change the style up when it comes to an album cause Grime music isn’t commercially appealing.
So people like Chipmunk, Skepta, Bashy, Tinchy, all these MCs that started off on rap/grime music switch up to bubblegum rap in order to make an album that will have radio hits and chart success.
I think soon American rappers will start fucking around with Dubstep beats, cause they could make a fucking crazy club anthem with a massive bassline if they do a Dubstep song.
But as far as taking the scene to the next level.. I’m not sure. I don’t think the Grime scene will ever be mainstream cause of the content in the songs and the beats aren’t to everyones taste, but a lot of MCs that started off in Grime are now making a lot of noise, those like Tinie Tempah, Dizzee, Chipmunk.

Right now in the UK there’s a lot more Dubstep and Drum & Bass taking over though, shit like that was never getting radio airplay at peak times years ago, now it’s regular.
