Raekwon Confirms Nas Collabo & Producers from Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Amazon.co.uk put up a track list for Raekwon’s upcoming Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang album over the weekend and today Raekwon confirmed that although the tracks weren’t sequenced properly, that it was the real deal and the features were indeed correct.

He specifically took the time to speak on his long-awaited reunion with Nas:

“It definitely sounds like vintage Rae and Nas again,” the Staten Island rep told XXLMag.com.

“I [saw] Nas across seas, we had a show together, and we talked about a lot of things,” Rae explained about how the two linked up. ”We went from A-Z how we felt about things what was goin on at the time, and by the grace of God we was able to get this thing happenin’ again. That was definitely one of the surprise things that I wanted to alert the fans with, just to let em know that my brother came up to air for me and I know through his busy schedule I guess in the back of his mind he was like ‘Yo I gotta come up for Rae.’”

Production duties will be handled by DJ Khalil, Scram Jones, The Alchemist, Erick Sermon and Allah Mathematics. Find the tentative track list after the jump.

Big K.R.I.T. ft. Grillade – Neva Go Back

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

YoursTru.ly released the above K.R.I.T. Wuz Here: The Grillade Sessions EP trailer last week, and dropped one of the tracks from the 4 song project today. A little backstory about the song itself:

Big K.R.I.T. wouldn’t be the man he is today without Grandma Linnie. The same woman he recalls cooking something good for his soul in “Neva Go Back” is responsible for one of K.R.I.T.’s critical characteristics: his gumption. It’s this strength, and respect for tradition that separates K.R.I.T. from his peers, and gives his songs that lasting luster.

This version of “Neva Go Back” belongs to K.R.I.T., Miss Linnie and the members of Grillade, who fill it to the brim with their own memories and melodies. Notice the weightless harmony in the hook. That marriage of instruments sounds like it should be celebrating its 20th anniversary, but in reality, KRIT and Grillade vocalist Ragen Fykes met for the first time that day at Different Fur. Proof that time isn’t the only force tying us together. In this case, its a shared passion, mutual admiration, and good old-fashioned gumption.
