Nino Bless ft. Johnny Cash – God’ll Cut You Down

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

New Nino sampling the legendary, late Johnny Cash.

He explains:

Just thought I’d do something different. Off a project I’m doing called “A Bitch Named Karma” … Only 10 new songs and its a pretty dark project. Still doing Latin Marksman 2 but in the middle of recording for it, I started doing more conceptual and dark material. That eventually led to “A Bitch Named Karma.” I’m 7 songs deep already this is the first song I recorded for the project, last year. The Mixtape will feature Crooked I, Atmosphere, Sha Stimuli, Saigon and production from Scram Jones, Madlib, J Cardim, Veterano, along with with some hungry young talented cats. I tried to do the late great Johnny Cash justice. I wanted to do a whole mash up project with Johnny Cash material but decided against it cause I didn’t want to look like I was trying to gain exposure off his name. Hopefully I did this song some justice cause Johnny Cash is one of my favorite artist of all time. Thank you all for all the support and feel free to foward this to any email list you guys have and help spread the word. I’ll be sending the cover of my next project with the next leak.

Video: Kidz in the Hall Present Brain Candy – “So Amzin” (Behind the Scenes)

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

You crazy for that one Double-O! Man, I covertly peeped this preview on Youtube the other day and this song sounds like it’s gonna be sick. I wanted to post it at the time, but I didn’t have any info on the song.

So it turns out that this is the first in a series of video clips and songs, “Brain Candy” if you will, that the Kidz will be dropping over the next few weeks. Look out for the full leak of “So Amzin” sometime tomorrow.

Video: DMX Gets Tortured, Kills Vampires in The Bleeding

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Here’s a clip of X getting a sharp metal object plunged through his hand and then spilling some vampire blood in the new straight to DVD horror flick The Bleeding. I first blogged about this sure Oscar contender waaay back in March of 2008 when Earl was still (occasionally) making headlines for stuff other than arrests and incarceration.  How this cinematic tour de force didn’t see a nationwide theater release is beyond me.

Complex Previews Raekwon’s Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Complex has a pretty extensive track-by-track summary of Rae’s new project, including “Rich & Black” the cut with Gnozir:

Prior to its release, much of the chatter about Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 revolved around whether or not Nas would make a guest appearance to follow-up his legendary verse on “Verbal Intercourse”. In the end, fans were disappointed when Nasty didn’t make a cameo and Nas himself admitted he regretted not appearing on the album. We’re guessing he tried to make it up with this record, but this song is more “Let My Niggas Live” (Nas’ other Wu-Tang collab) than it is “Verbal Intercourse”. “Timbs yellow like a Malibu surfer hair be” raps Nas on this track, which should signal that the heavier themes of the rest of the record aren’t really present here. Rae goes off on the second verse though.

Earlier in the review of the album’s title cut, which I fux with, they say if you like that song, you’ll like the album. So if this Nas is more “Let My Niggas Live” then “VI”, then I’m not all that excited to hear it. On the other hand, I need this “Snake Pond” joint in my life immediately.

“She once shot up a Chipotle, but don’t quote me”

Peep the full preview here.

Edit: While composing this post I mistook the Nas track for another cut that they said didn’t jel with the album. I made an edit above, but it doesn’t change anything, I’m still not all that excited to here “Rich & Black” for some reason.
