  68. Rajon Trondo Says:

To say jay dee is not at the very least top 3 is silliness. His hip hop contributions aside, look what he did for r&b, neo soul .. When he was making records with eryka and d’angelo, boys 2 men and Whitney Houston went into hiding. He made that shit uncool. Dilla worked with Tribe and was a big part of that whole Soulquarians movement. He definitely helped put the D on the map as far as exposing the talent to the rest of the country. And he worked pretty close with Busta & laced Common with a buncha joints…but that’s about it.

    Agreed.

However, I am framing the question thusly-

Because their is no criteria for proclaiming one as the GOAT, how do we make a determination?

Because as I said, there are people who shockingly don’t consider Nasir, Tupac, Chris Wallace, Sean Carter, etc the GOAT.

They would say ________ is the best rapper, and not skip a beat.

I mean, Todd Smith was the one who coined the term GOAT based on all his actual accolades (awards, record sales, legacy), but he is often NEVER included in such conversations– is this a fair assessment of his stature, or a sign of the times?

    One could only hope.

Seriously, though. The stannery he exhibits borders on actual STAN-like tendencies– sitting in his basement, working out and reciting CamelGOAT lyrics inscribed on the walls in his own blood.

That WOULD let CamelGOAT smash his woman if the opportunity presented itself, then would come on here bragging about it.

    FACT.
