ATCQ Documentary Debuts @ Sundance, 3/4 of Group a No-Show
“The reality of the situation is individually they all have different perspectives. Phife chose to come here and the other guys are not here. And they missed out”
Michael Rappaport’s long delayed, sometimes controversial documentary on A Tribe Called Quest debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend, but with the exception of Phife, the group was a no-show. In the clip above, Rappaport explains his dissapointment to MTV.
On the night of the premier, Tribe sent out the following statement:
Thanks to our fans for their support through the years and for the enthusiasm around the documentary. We hope that the film’s perspective conveys our love of hip-hop culture. We could not attend Sundance, but we want to express our love and appreciation for the support that we have received in advance of the film’s premiere tonight. We hope that it is well received. Thank you.
I don’t know man, I just want to see the shit.
You can check out a couple of reviews of the film and Phife’s comments (he broke out in tears) here and here.

Right now, given Khalifa’s fanbase and all the activity that his music coincides with, YES. Khalifa has a bigger/ MORE RECOGNIZABLE buzz that stretches past just hip-hop and music in general.

even if Favre couldnt finish the game… he would never be seen pouting and sulking by himself on the sidelines… he’d have a headset on, or looking at pictures from the booth with the backup QB… or staying on the sidelines cheering on and/or motivating his teammates…
even when his career was over in Minnesota, and he was in streetclothes watching… he was still acting like a positive influence and a part of the team..
Cutler has the worst body language i ever seen from a QB… walking around with his hands in his pockets and his head down in his chest, like he’d rather be anywhere else but on the football field… thats what got him ran out of Denver… seems like he got a Ryan Leaf type personality…

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA — Witnesses say they saw a woman throw herself from the 23rd story of a Buenos Aires hotel Monday and survive.
The woman landed in a sitting position on the roof of a taxi whose driver got out just before the impact deeply dented his roof and shattered the windshield.
The woman, a 30-year-old Argentine, has injuries throughout her body and is being treated in the emergency room of the Hotel Argerich, said Alberto Crescenti, director of Argentina’s Emergency Medical System.
The taxi driver, who gave his name as Miguel, reportedly said he saw a policeman looking up and that prompted him to get out just before the driver’s side of the car was smashed by the woman’s body.
Another taxi driver, Juan Carlos Candame, told Associated Press Television News that he saw the woman climb over a barrier and jump into the void.
The woman fell from the top of the Hotel Crown Plaza Panamericano, where a restaurant overlooks the landmark Obelisk in downtown Buenos Aires.

>The rivalry between Phife and Tribe frontman Q-Tip that forms the central narrative of the film is dramatic and compelling if not quite completely fleshed-out.
It’s a story of young men bonding over something, fighting over nothing, finding a calling, getting married, changing careers, struggling with their impulses, actually questioning their attitudes and their egos—not just boasting, not just bragging.

The rivalry between Phife and Tribe frontman Q-Tip that forms the central narrative of the film is dramatic and compelling if not quite completely fleshed-out.
In essence, Tip is kind of a hoe ass nigga, but then again, most of the creative types have that shit in em.
I mean, Phife was barely on the first album & Tip has even went as far to say that he & not Ali Shaheed produced most of their records.
Tip is a kind of an egomaniac & that soft spoken, charming schoolboy shtick is for the media.
And I know all this without having seen a second of movie footage.
