But it’s wide open for people to create their own lane. I’m not a fan of Souljah Boy’s music in general, but “Supaman” (didn’t like that song, still don’t), “Donk”, “Kiss You Thru the Phone” [||], and “Turn My Swag On” are just some dope records with catchy melodies, hooks, etc. People think it’s simple as 1-2-3 but don’t realize how many beats they went through, how many melodies ended up in the recycle bin, and other things that DIDN’T work before they found the one that DID work. It really aint easy though. For every hit song that made it on the air there’s literally hundreds, even thousands, that didn’t.

I always thought the Heatmakerz was grittier and more Rza sounding but without the consistency. Prodigy’s unorthodox flow is actually what makes his voice standout. Havoc and Alchemist’s beats helped tremendously. Over time it just wasn’t the same. But with that being said…

Listening to Infamy is sad… I think Land mentioned it a couple of days ago on why that album is looked on badly, and it is a byproduct of Albert’s flow falling apart after the Summer Jam screen… IT was like he was unable to put together raps anymore– all tough talk without the actual rapping.

Some of Waynes signature vocal performances aren’t the more cartoony jawns– its when he’s rapping like a nigga straight out of the Nolia projects.
Peedi took what should be a handicap (an extremely whiny, high pitched voice) and turned it into an asset– he sounds both menacing (flatline) and playful in the same bar– that shit is a rare gift, b.
I mean, if Peedi DIDN”T have his voice, he would be another nigga in North rapping.

But Vocally, Peedi is almost unfuckwitable in philly–
his ability to maintain the strength in his voice while modulating on particular bars and syllables >>>>
I mean, BSG, yous a rapper, and a damned good one. You KNOW how hard it is to maintain a vocal performance while trying to stress particular syllables and words.
And peedi does it with a weak ass voice– he sounds like he should only be able to complete one song a day before going hoarse.

To me, what Nas does exceptional well (or rather, exceptionally-er well than other aspects of his spit game) is that he manages to make a poignant point/observation and spread it over a couplet/4 bars where other rappers would dedicate entire songs to the same observation/point and still not manage to convey it as emphatically as Nas.

The peak of any “rapping” I did was winning a freestyle contest @ Baruch College in 2003, getting an autographed copy of a book by author Heru Ptah, and having my picture in The Ticker (school paper). The only time you could even get me to spit was heavily inebriated in the backseat of the homies’ whips on the way to the club. I did, though, think I was the greatest A&R EVER. But who didn’t?

I can remember listening to him dismantle EVERY rapper he was rapping with, with absolute EASE.

I agree with Lil Wayne….its not what he says, its the way he says it. His voice is one of the best, even if you cant understand it.
Wayne is though one of the most charismatic rappers ever in history. Second to pac, I’d say he has more charisma than Jigga.
