There is a great chance Lee will stay in Tx, but if NY wants him, they WILL overpay to get him– this is facts.
Crawford is different. From all indications, the Red Sox had a good conversation with him and with Gonzalez signing, Crawford can only see that team in contention for years with him. Plus, he would have more protection across the board– The Red Sox 1-6 line up would probably one of the most dangerous in Baseball bar NONE- Ellsbury, Pedrioa, Ortiz, Gonzalez, Crawford, Youk (who can bat 3rd and move Ortiz to 6th)– I mean, NO AL team would have that type of firepower at the top of their line-up.
Thats why the Yankees will try to keep him away from Boston, and why Boston will overpay.
Hell, if Werth wouldn’t have signed to the Nats so early, he probably could have driven the price up.
