Friday, November 12th, 2010

Here are a couple more highlights from the Stretch and Bob reunion courtesy of Sucio Smash of Squeeze Radio. They talk about the first song they ever played on air (one of my personal favorites), the origins of “ayo/pause”, Biggie ‘Yoyoyoyoyo’n Stretch one day on Houston and Broadway and Large Pro spits.

Mick Boogie – 93 Til’ Infinity Mix… Inspired by NBA JAM (Mixtape)

Friday, November 12th, 2010

To accompany the release of the new NBA Jam, Mick Boogie threw together this mixtape with Dime, MAJOR, Motivation and HOMAGE celebrate the game’s legacy with classic remixes from the ’90s.

NYC-based Mick Boogie, known for his eclectic DJ sets and amazing mixtapes, is also an avid basketball fan and a video game junkie. With the recent return of the classic 90’s arcade game NBA JAM (now refreshed and remixed for 2010), Mick was inspired to put together a mixtape of classic and rare 90’s remixes that serve as the soundtrack to where we were back in the day. Being that NBA JAM dropped in 1993… Mick’s decision to call the mix “93 Til’ Infinity” was the only appropriate choice!

In addition to the mixtape, Mick collaborated with vintage t-shirt designers Homage to create a limited edition NBA JAM/93 Til Infinity inspired tee to celebrate the release of this mix and the videogame. You can find the shirt here.

Video: The Day Big Pun Became Immortal

Friday, November 12th, 2010

It’s Friday so that means it’s time for another thisismyNYMinute segment from Media Gasface. In this clip, German graf artists HOW and NOSM talk about how the TATS Cru repped for Pun on the day of his passing by painting their now famous memorial mural at 163rd and Rogers in the Bronx.

All white guys don’t look the same :
these two are twins > german-made twins!

So along with cars and weapons, Germany provides great graffiti artists as HOW and NOSM.
Better be great to reprezent the legendary Tats Cru, from the Bronx.

HOW recalls 2000, feb 7th : the day Big Punisher passed away, the whole Tats Cru took their cans out in the snow, and did The Bronx Legend a fitting Memorial.
Huge.
