^That signing bonus will do that to you bro. Think about the offer and contract that Diddy Probably proposed. That shit probably looked like something penned by the devil himself equipped with a “your soul is mine” clause. The Jigga man probably came with something a little less bearing see as to how he don’t suck his artists dry and not pay them as well as not needing them to write material for him either.
Elect was probably relieved to see that Roc-Nation contract over that Bad Boy contract. He just went with the best team.

Ppl are talking about Puffs history with artists on his label, but Jay-Z’s isn’t much better. We are talking about artists on HIS label, not the Def Jam artists….where is beanie, teairra marie? Freeway, young gunz? Puffy has an excellent resume when it comes to artist developement, all of his artists get number one records, platinum albums…its just that most of those artists weren’t signed for longevity purposes…but who can complain? Im sure Yung Joc knew he was just gonna be a one hit wonder. He has made his millions. Puffy would clearly take a diff approach with Jay elect since he is clearly an artist that will have longevity (think Mary j blige). Puffy is the producer of Mtvs biggest 2 shows…run house and making the band…he could take Jay elects exposure to the next level…Jay elect would be puffys only priority….where as on roc nation he competing with Cole, Alexis Jordan etc. There are so many ppl on roc nation whos albums will never see the light of day, from Bridget Kelly, to Rita Ora, range to that country singer dude….
In terms of budget, how much did Cole get for the who dat video??, and that was supposed to be his breakthru single smh. Puffy would drop 3 mill on a video EASY, rapping on top of the statue of liberty and fireworks and airplanes and shiny suits and shit (see: Hello Goodmorning video). People really think Jay is some type of god like figure. The only artist on rocafella that made it is Kanye, and that’s because he made his own beats and is a creative pioneer. And even Jay says he was reluctant to sign Ye at first, it was purely because of Ye’s stubbornness and the fact he was the main producer for rocafella that landed him the deal. Granted, a Jay-Z cosign will go alot further than a Puffy one…but I think Puffy could offer more. Plus…Puffy is the reason Jay-Z was even interested….nobody was fuckin with elect prior to puff…if it wasn’t for puff, ppl woulda completely forgot about elect after exhibit c (when he dissapeared). In NO amount of climate and on any label would Beanie, freeway and young gunz would sell. Their time has passed by. Some artists are meant to have buzz or fame for all their lives. I find this argument of where are they now kind of ridiculous, considering that many labels have dropped acts or acts have been let go because of business. You know how many artist Sony signs and doesn’t put out? This is common. Jay-z runs a business not a homeboy hookup label. Puff didn’t do anything for waka and Jay-z was the first people to co-sign rick ross when no one knew who he was. Puff jumped on the rick ross bandwagon after he dropped two hot albums. Jay-z mentioned being excited about listening to ross coming onto Def Jam before hustling came out.
Why sign to someone who is going to ruin your future and not let you have creative control? Being on jay-z’s label it’s up to you to find your success, there is no babysitting going on. No smacking up people, no yelling, just straight business, nothing extra. Jay-z is like Belichick, just do your job.

When I say Kanye himself out the game, I’m talking about JE going off on tangents or business relationships that will hurt his career in the future. Given JE’s age and and status in the game He has a lot more to lose and is doesn’t possess the talents that Kanye has.
Kanye lost money for what he did. If you’re going to be that bold then you really need to stand behind what you say and not apologize. JE could say anything he wants but he has to remember he’s on a label.

I like this analysis, I’m actually in the process of smoking weed in moderation, because I smoked everyday without care and put shit out the way that I NEEDED to tend to… blame a young nigga getting in the game of smoking. But now I’m spacing it out and smoking weed on occassions and getting the best highs while still getting shit done, very hard for a former pot head though…more insight from cOLD or any other nahggar on this little revelation would be accepted..
