Kanye even if this record undersells is still a big touring act and one of the biggest names not just in rap, but pop music. He doesn’t need a re-up with Def Jam or another regular label.
He can do what Jay, Madonna, and Robbie Williams have done and get a 360 Deal that works to his advantage. He’s big enough and proactive an artist enough to make that work, even if he can’t make it work as well as Jay has and will.

Wayne’s newest single is at #6 if I recall correctly. And even though I like it, it’s not one of his better songs. It would have been one of the better songs on the YM album, but that’s it.
He’s still a big deal. Not a millie first week big, but still as big as Ye or Jay–maybe bigger.

For the time being, sales still decide who gets an album greenlighted, who gets funding and therefore what kind of music comes out. So they matter.
I can see how it doesn’t matter if you only like retro sounding new guys or older artists, because I think they are almost unaffected by sales.
But as a guy who does like a lot of mainstream guys and newer guys who seem to at least vaguely follow a trend, yeah I care about sales and trends.

50′s biggest POP appeal has been his hooks. And hook singers fall off eventually.
The only way 50 goes plat is if he has famous guests do his hooks for him, like Jay did on a lot of his singles for BP3.
But I’m not sure who 50 can pull at this point. Never mind his burning bridges with beefs, he’s less popular than Ross.
And no singers want him for a guest verse now. That’s usually a good sign that you aren’t hot in the music community.

But now you are counteracting your own argument… You keep saying no one is checking for him, but then find ways to rebutt the truth. Industry relationships don’t mean shit– power and money do. I can promise you if 50 called Camel up right now to do a song, he would do it, because 50 is a power player in hip-hop, like it or not. If you don’t think 50 isn’t a hot commodity, as E-40. 50 dropped a verse on his shit and that song took over so-cal has been on their charts since it dropped, when the OG version didn’t even get played. Cee-lo’s Fuck You DIDN’T blow when it dropped, and it had been out for almost a month til 50 dropped that verse on it– Cee-lo admitted this himself that the song wasn’t a good choice for a single, but 50 made it huge.

so last night, we had a nice little storm, and the power went out for a second. no biggie. the sesktop computer remained powered off all night, and i hardly noticed, because both the wife and I were on our respective laptops.
this morning, i powered up the desktop, mainly because it’s NEVER off, and i noticed it was.. so i turned it on with the intent of eating some generic lucky charms in front of the computer and catching up on nah, espn, etc.. but my ride to work showed up early and i didn’t get a chance to eat my lucky charms, OR check my internets.
i went to work, and immediately after went to a high school football game (which was ILL, word to the warren G harding raiders) and upon returning home, i posted up at my desk to check my e-mail, and noticed that someone was logged into windows messenger. “who the fuck uses that?” i wondered, and soon discovered that it was the babysitters 18 year old daughter that was logged in to the messenger. she must have logged in before when she was here with her mom, and clicked something so that it auto-saved her log in credentials, and logged her in automatically upon a reboot. there were 3 chat windows open, 2 just sort of said “hello”, but the other said this …

At all. Way too many schemes going on right now. At stores and restaurants, try to spend in cash. There have been a spike 25 fold in identity thefts in America.

i just have a few things to say
1) Jihad is a more annoying gunit stan than twotimes and a smug know it all bastard
2) it is very evident 50 is not as relevant as he was even a year ago. 50 just received more buzz by mentioning the fact kanye will be featured on his new lp. kanye just made 50′s buzz increase. who is more relevant? i think that is apparent
3) gunit is a sinking ship, look at past trends. their album sales have been rapidly declining with the rest of the industries for how many years now? to think they will ever be a major force in music again is foolish
now im not saying gunits music isnt good at times. on slim occasion yes. but usually its the same old shit, just more redundant, and more watered down
