At this point this should already be common knowledge, but there’s still some non-believers. Narcissism is Hip Hop’s ugly step brother. Since this music was created lyrics have been full of braggadocio content of how nice you are, the women you sleep with, the expensive clothes you wear, etc. If there’s anything Pac can be credited for is TRUTH. He never hesitated to bring all his insecurities to the fore-front and embrace it. The reality he gave you was a breath of fresh air from the usual subject matter. A couple people have done that before such as Cube & Chuck D, but Pac did it in such a versatile way that’s never been heard. He made songs that made you love women, hate bitches, hate politicians, appreciate your friends, and hug your momma all in one album. What made him ill was that he was out fuckin Hollywood bitches like Madonna, blowing money in Vegas draped in expensive ass Versace suits but still made his music relevant to the every day common man struggling. He would let you know that there aint a damn thing different between you and him. He was reaching out to you through his music and telling you “I understand”. There’s a reason why people from all walks of life throw on some 2pac when they’re having a bad day. That’s why I get pissed off at rappers that come up and say “I can’t rap about the stuff I did before because my lifestyle is different now”. That’s a cop out in my opinion. @ 007– Well, he’s not gonna sell anything over 100k, but he can stay viable (ie shows, $$ for features, blog posts to stay on people’s minds) with a dope project.
