PICS: Rik Cordero x Spike Lee in Istanbul, Turkey
Rik was in town with Nike and 94×50 shooting more footage for his upcoming documentary “The World Is Watching,” which we briefly described when he let us present “Welcome to the Imperial,” check out some behind the scenes stills from the shoot on Three/21. Spike was in Istanbul shooting a commercial and they had the chance to meet. Rik describes encountering the living legend below:
From shopping in the Grand Bazaar to watching the U2 360 Tour at Ataturk Stadium, Spike was an absolutely pleasure to be around; his sharpness, humor and wit is unmatched.
As they head into post production with the doc, look for the premiere of the Rik Cordero documentary film “The World Is Watching” to hit the big screen at the Tribeca Film Festival in April of next year.

“The World Is Watching” (directed by Rik Cordero / produced by Nike Films) is the story about prominent teenage athletes competing in a New York City Basketball tournament called Battle of the Boroughs. The film revolves around the best up and coming basketball players in New York City. These young men must live up to the expectations of their coaches, their families and most importantly: their boroughs. Damn hopefully Rik will keep his edge and still guerrilla the game. Not likely tho, you know how it is when the majors get involved. He likely to start having someone else start shooting the footage while he sits back and collects checks.
