I dropped a mixtape on Thursday and the following Tuesday, I dropped an EP in stores. Really, what I wanted to do was go get some points on the board. Put something in the stores for my fans to support and still give them music like I’ve been giving them on the Internet.

Str8 Killa No Filla is the mixtape. It’s got 22 joints. The EP is Str8 Killa. On the EP, you’re gonna get the songs off the mixtape with no samples. It’s a lovely package, we packaged it together real nice.

So you get like 28 songs for eight bucks. I’m creating my own way to sell music.

Video: Stalley – Babblin’

Monday, August 16th, 2010

In commemoration of the upcoming 5th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (August 29th), Director and New Orleans’ own Brandan “BMike” Odums & 2-Cent present Stalley in “Babblin’” (produced by J. Rawls) off the Ohio native’s MadStalley: The Autobiography.

BMike was inspired to capture the current state of New Orleans by creating a visual accompaniment to “Babblin” because he felt the song unintentionally represented the existing dichotomy in his city so well. Today, tourists and residents alike enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer, but many never visit the ninth ward or acknowledge the remnants of destruction that remain.

The imagery in “Babblin” serves as a blunt reminder that the Katrina tragedy should not and cannot be forgotten, but through it all we must unite and rejoice to ensure life and the beautiful city of New Orleans live on.
