Video: Lauryn Hill Interview w/ MTV News Pt. 2
Lauryn talks about her “jazz-like” live shows to MTV. I had to watch some footage before posting it and can tell you, as someone who knows The Fugees catalog inside-out, that shit was hot-trash. She chalks it up to spontaneity and improvisation. Yeah, no shit.

Lost tapes are just all the songs that leaked from I Am (which was supposed to be the death and rebirth of Nas I AM/Nastradamus). Lil Homie, instead of simply dropping his shit as it was, scraps all the AMAZING tracks and releases Hate Me Now and the musical abortion known as Nastradamus.

my thing is, if this is now common knowledge then why do people still take this negative stance against Nas and his catalog?
obviously he could have delivered, and he did eventually, so whats the problem?

People are building this thing up wayyyyyyyy to much! Lauryn hasn’t lost her talent, her voice, or her MC’in skills… BUT… her decision to use that live band was a very bad decision! They sped the tempo of her songs up to the point you couldn’t recognize what she was performing, and she did sound forced… She’ll be alright… At least the likeliness of her doing another Solo is looking more realistic. And the album won’t sound anything like these performances.

Flawless Nas Verse
One for the money
Two for pussy and foreign cars
Three for Alize niggas deceased or behind bars
I rap divine Gods check the prognosis, is it real or showbiz?
My window faces shootouts, drug overdoses
Live amongst no roses, only the drama, for real
A nickel-plate is my fate, my medicine is the ganja
Here’s my basis, my razor embraces, many faces
Your telephone blowing, black stitches or fat shoelaces
Peoples are petrol, dramatic automatic four-four I let blow
and back down po-po when I’m vexed so
my pen taps the paper then my brain’s blank
I see dark streets, hustling brothers who keep the same rank
Pumping for something, some uprise, plus some fail
Judges hanging niggas, uncorrect bails, for direct sales
My intellect prevails from a hanging cross with nails
I reinforce the frail, with lyrics that’s real
Word to Christ, a disciple of streets, trifle on beats
I decipher prophecies through a mic and say peace.
I hung around the older crews while they sling smack to dingbats
They spoke of Fat Cat, that nigga’s name made bell rings, black
Some fiends scream, about Supreme Team, a Jamaica Queens thing
Uptown was Alpo, son, heard he was kingpin, yo
Fuck “rap is real”, watch the herbs stand still
Never talking to snakes ’cause the words of man kill
True in the game, as long as blood is blue in my veins
I pour my Heineken brew to my deceased crew on memory lane
