Nas – Power, Paper & Pussy

Nas goes off on this one. Fresh off the release of Distant Relatives, Nasir laces the Evil Genius with an exclusive for his new mixtape dropping tomorrow. Kinda dope how he repeats the line from “It Ain’t Hard To Tell,” which has been Green Lantern’s drop for years now.

hes been featured on a couple Jedi Mind Tricks albums….don’t know him from anywhere else tho…

Same sample as the one from “Fix Up, Look Sharp”– but no disrespect to Dizzee, this is a much better song.

^Nah, letting the fans control the direction you take your music is a bad idea IMO. You just gotta do you and hope people enjoy it.

Eeehhh, not really. But Boy in Da Corner was dope, and he had a great sound when he started off.

He changed his sound by the third LP, but it’s worth noting the best song on that record was Hardback, which sounded like it could have been on the first two LPs.

YO GREEN, let’s launch this motherfucka

  20. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

Maybe it wouldn’t have been like this if I were British, but hearing Dizzee’s flow for the first time was pretty amazing. Hard-hitting doesn’t even begin to describe it.

  21. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

Dizzee – Fix Up Look Sharp >>>

Been meaning to track down some more of his stuff. Not a fan of Grime at all but I dig Dizzee’s music, the little of it I’ve heard.

  22. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

Nas clearly read my comments about Rawse naming his LP after a guy who said “being a nigger is an embarrassment”. In fact I’ll go ahead and take full credit for this song.

Nas went the fuck off on this, GOAT

  25. why? Says:

Jay can’t ever again make another album that will catch my attention. Nas on the other hand stays fucking up but dude still has the potential to make art. Kind of sucks though that yeah the Camel has classics and Pac and Big died too soon making him the official king. Jay was never ahead of his time. Nas deserved the throne and was never able to put on the crown. I honestly hope dude gets with the right people and starts making incredible shit soon.

Another classic album from Nasir > Act II tracks with the lil homie > Detox and another Camel album

It’s pretty clear that’s something Lantern has had in the vaults for years now, and he uses it now as a prelude. Even if Nas tried he couldn’t replicate that exact sound.

  44. Premier Says:

So I was chillin at a BBQ in Harlem this past weekend with a couple of the homies drunk as shit. There was this one dude at the function who looked out of place like a mothafucka. Homeboy had the jail bird simon adebisi swaggin to the maximum with the slippers, khakis, and colored wifebeater. He came to me with the fuckshit and started tellin me bout how he wants to be a rapper and he just came home from a bid. He starts freestylin out of no where for me, and I’m thinkin wow he straight raw uncut booty. Dude sounded like goddamn lost member of the 69 Boyz. So I’m right in the midst of cutting him off and refilling up my cup, when homeboy said “I drag the nigga in the cell and straight do em in the ass”. My face just went blank my whole body went stuck from hearin that shit I couldn’t believe what I just heard. What’s more shocking was that he was ice-grillin and all that while he said that line as if it were some regular activities. By then I’m thinkin it may not be the best idea to walk away and get this off brand Terry Crews nigga angry. I ain’t gon lie I was scared for my manhood. I pretended to get a phone call and walked to the other side of the block. The End…

    Wasn’t a fan.

I like Nas’s music when it’s grounded in New York City. I felt DR was a reach.

And the only reason this Jay/Ye EP is coming out is Jay saw how much attention Ye was getting and figured he’d steal some of his shine for himself.

Niggas gonna be whispering that shit to they grandkids!

Bruh… you are making a generalization that all Nas fans like Nas for that intellectual perspective on everything… I can tell you why I like him and it’s the level of artistry, lyricism, song writing, etc… taking the 1st verse writing a mean hook than connecting 2nd verse to the 3rd to make a crazy song, that makes u say WTF… that shit was hot, and yeah it was genius too… He does it better than anybody! ANYBODY!!! He’s perhaps the best raw talent Hip Hop has seen so far… He’s not perfect, far from it… nobody is… Even BIG would’ve stayed alive… there would’ve blanks fired in his catalogue at some point. It happens!!! Jay is no different! There are tons of shaky spots in his catalogue. It’s not as noticeable as Nas b/c of the wealth and the production choices.. but it’s still there, still noticeable

Someone said something earlier today that made me think.

Pac and Biggie died before their time. Jay-Z has always delivered, but unlike Nas was never before his time, he just did exactly what he claimed, “held us down” for summers.

Sometimes it feels like he’s the best by default. If he’s the best he hasn’t been able to get rid of the asterisk, he’s almost like A-Rod trying to add another 100 HRs till we forget he did steroids except his shortcomings aren’t his rather that of his peers.

I read the entire thing bruh… but I still don’t agree with sales being a part of that recognition… The recognition is strickly based on having your back against the walll… It’s like a fighter… This guy is 40-0 vs this guy who is 35-5… so obviously the guy who is 40-0 is favored…but it doesn’t mean the underdog won’t whoop his ass!!! That would be shocking to the masses. Maybe not so much to purists… but the average hip hop fan… absolutely… Big Chink in the Armor

Like I said, that’s why Kobe doesn’t take open challenges at the Rucker. Is it a conceivable that a young hungry whipper snapper could cross him up one or two times? Of course! But does that translate to getting 5 rings or being compared to MJ and Magic? Simple answer: No.

And even if ya dead broke, we are still equal
One time for the lil people
Eat ya meal, don’t let ya meal eat you

    I run… with… trouble

And just the other day, my nigga Chris killed his self
I pray to God, that I never feel the way he felt
Where do we go when there’s no help?
He figured Heaven, so he went left
    Ya’ll know that ain’t right
Plus, he was high as a plane that same night
Shit, I probably been on that same flight
Shit, I probably had that same fight
    I just kept swingin
    Twelve rounds comin, bells ringin
    (I run with trouble… trouble)
Introduced to the game, when I was just a child
Mama love a drug dealer, straight quit her job
And took his life, and along with him, I died
    And she died, we died
Then came my daughter, to my bed side
Told me daddy, don’t cry, I’m alive
I look her in the eyes, and see me with no sins
But this is how the note ends

The tool, it poke out the jeans
The coke smell just like a bunch of coffee beans
Ya nah mean? and everything ain’t what it seem
Ya nah mean? and don’t play that game, without your team
Kill for my bread, kill for my G’s, kill for my cream
I will have that red beam on hot beam
Now I hear sirens, wait I think I see one behind me
I ain’t trippin baby, money got me
    Unh
    (I run with trouble… trouble)
And fuck the police, fuck the feds, too
I ain’t jumpin in that jump suit
A one, I’m on my one, two
Check me out, I fuck around and check you
    Respect due, pay yours nigga
Mines under the seat, by my feet, where’s yours nigga?
    Too much hoarse liquor, huh?
Too much pressure, too much force
Too much money, never heard that before
    Shit
And we stop the snitches at the door
Cut that tail off the rat, he won’t rat no more
    (I run with trouble… trouble)
Shit, that’s right, get trapped fuck with my G’s
Keep shootin, ’til I burn my sleeves
Nigga please, these boys is G’s
Represent New Orleans, like a Florida leaf
Shit, what you know about it, we more than thieves
