Dude, shut the fuck up…all music doesn’t sound dated…the flows on Reasonable Doubt don’t sound dated and a lot of the shit Hov was talking about is still very prevalent today (ie breitling watches, Rose etc.) just to name a few…I’m not saying the shit Nas was talking about is dated but alot of the flows and slang like ‘funky groove, too much flavor, I’ll catch a wreck etc…’
You can make music and stay away from shit that will make your music sound dated….you act like the concept of music sounding dated doesn’t exist.

Illmatic is a bonafide classic and inspired a lot of people, but, in my opinion, in my ears, a good amount of it sounds dated too me and I’m not very compelled to listen very often.
A good friend of mine -who is also a co-worker-and i were comparing and contrasting RD and Illmatic…and the things i mentioned are some of this things that hinder Illmatic in that debate IMO.
