If you ever studied anything about european art

^ how can you study something thats subjective?
    ^^

by looking at it. Its simple. By noticing all the nuances of the art. interpret it how you want, but understand why the artist did certain things and placed certain objects in a work like that.

but thats the great part about studying art… there is no wrong answer (to an extent)

If you ever studied anything about european art you would get the references in this video. And no its not supposed to be original, but it aint from constantine, its from renaissance art… like they have been saying the whole time.

I’ve taken a lot of art history classes and studied a lot of symbolism in different art from different places.

Its creative because the video is saying more than even some of those 20 min music videos… and its only 90 sec.

you dont’ have to like it though. but you should at least respect where its coming from.

    *stans harder (||)*

its not the best video ever, but it is interesting at least IMO. Niggas wanna act like all these videos need grainy footage with niggas on the block. LOL.

I’m not even trying to argue that. That’s your opinion, but you can’t be mad at Ye for trying something new.

but how are you ever gonna know what is too far for art if no one ever pushes the boundaries?

Sometimes artists have to go too far. I wish I could go to far with my art. Its not easy. When you push the boundaries it gives others more freedom.

That On to the Next One shit wasnt art, it was trash. Art IMO is supposed to make a statement. All those niggas did was paint white people’s faces and burn random shit.

Its like post modern art, splash a bunch of paint on a canvas and act like u have a “deeper” meaning. I saw a documentary on some lil 8 yr old white girl who made all this bread from doing that shit.

^ but to study means to become knowledgable with factual accounts… Music like with art is left to the discretion of the person viewing or listening. Unlike lets say science or math… you can’t study art but you can study the artist… this is why I take issue with the whole study art or music thing.

I never saw the On To The Next One video.

Only point I’m tryin to make (since I don’t want to let me Ye stannery shine right now) is that the video is supposed to be what it is and niggas is supposed to be mad at it. Its controversial in that some people will think its ridiculous.

that’s part of the art. Welcome to an art critique class.

    ——————————————————-

Agree with the first statement whole-heartedly. Even now with his new sound, for the most part the stuff he puts into his beats [no mostly co-produced] is the same old sampling he’s always done. Just different sources, which is nice for variety.

The second one not so much. Kanye’s one of those dudes that can take an underground fad or something that has a small following, and turn it into a trend. He doesn’t follow trends. He’s one of those guys that takes something that may be new or controversial and almost ‘legitimizes’ it for the pop landscape, just through good pop instincts. Pop music has very few of those figures in it’s history, but all of them are famous as fuck and have gone down in history as some of the greatest.

Jay-Z, yeah he is DEFINITELY a follower. Even early in his career. Never understood how anyone else thought differently. He’s not an innovator, or a legitimizer, he’s a survivor. He survives by following. Word to his Drake like verse on Under Pressure.

  47. Black Says:

    ^^^^^^^^^

LOL nah fam i aint hate on her. i actually thought her parents should get hustler of the year. Niggas made alotta bread. In the flick tho they said that the fact that her “art” raises the question of how legitimate said artform can be when a 8yr old can master it. Trust, she wasnt no prodigy, the little girl was fingerpainting and those lames in art galleries was seeing all this shit that wasnt there in her work.
