This is going to be like “Stronger” where the hood wasn’t sure they wanted to accept “electro-influenced Kanye”. Then three weeks later they’re wearing neon spaceboots and plastic shutter glasses they bought from eBay.
Fact is, this video pisses me off because it could’ve been a bomb ass EPIC video.
BUT, I like the concept of the “portrait” and I co-sign this video to the fullest. Those who keep writing off the whole illuminati thing know about as much as those who make up conspiracy theories. Brambilla is the genius and Kanye provided the (IMO) great music and helped think of the concept behind the video. I honestly don’t know to make of this video. I have the same feeling about this as I did watching Flashing Lights.
Perhaps the songs are just so great that it heightens my expectations to perhaps unrealistic heights.
But still, I appreciate the creativity and originality that went into this project. Someone mentioned how the music video as an art form is dying. I think thats accurate. So any attempts to resuscitate, I can’t hate. But personally, I just wish that this visual, while stunning, would have done a better job of reflecting the songs emotion as opposed to its epic. but its whatever..

If you ever studied anything about european art you would get the references in this video. And no its not supposed to be original, but it aint from constantine, its from renaissance art… like they have been saying the whole time.
I’ve taken a lot of art history classes and studied a lot of symbolism in different art from different places.
Its creative because the video is saying more than even some of those 20 min music videos… and its only 90 sec.
you dont’ have to like it though. but you should at least respect where its coming from.
