Back on June 29th the good folks at Boundless NY had the esteemed DJ Clark Kent stop by for one of their invitation only listening sessions. Clark did what he does on the turntables, putting it down for an hour and 15 minutes, spinning a wide range of R&B, Soul and rap classics and a nice helping of some newer stuff for good measure. When he was finished, DJ Teddy King kept it going for another hour. So it’s with great pleasure that we offer up this momentus mix as a single mp3 download for your continued listening pleasure.
In addition to the mix, Clark also sat for a revealing interview with Kellen Dengler in which he discusses many of the defining moments in his long and storied career as a DJ, tastemaker and producer. You can check out part 1 of the interview below in which Clark speaks on growing up in a household full of music and how he grew to love and cherish records as a fan of music and collector. He also relates the story of the very first record he ever saved up to buy.

Marcberg hands down! The vintage essence to that album… and he truly put together the best album this year… He actually made an album that connected every song from start to finish! Pimptro to the Shoutro…The only thing I don’t like about Marcberg is the wack engineers that recorded that shit… Turn his vocals up… they’ve got the beat drowning him out on the album.

Bun B’s second solo album was dope [II Trill] but I’m not really feeling this new one. Good features, pretty good production list but he’s clearly getting their left overs. Kind of like Jada had big name producers on his last LP but was getting their left overs. Bun B doesn’t really do bad verses but he also rarely does standout verses, so he needs good beats and good features.
