I find it comical that Lupe wants to lick shots at eskay, even though eskay and nate – with all due respect – basically put this kid on the map.
In business, those who fail to adapt, ultimately fail completely. History is littered with examples of people and enterprises that clutched for dear life to failing ideas until they completely sank.
Lupe helped create the blueprint for the internets rapper. Flood the fans with incredible freestyles. Be creative. Build a buzz on the low. Get key industry co-signs. Etc etc.
What has sadly transpired is that he has failed to heed his own advice. He no longer floods the fans with good music. Why not? Where is he? Starring in films? Lu, we know you hiked up Kilamanjaro with Kenna and a few anorexic models. Congrats. But that was like a year ago. What have you been doing since then? That’s the million dollar question.
And then he puts an album in the can and wants to petition to get it released. Here’s an idea: leak that whole album as a gift to the fans and make a new fucking album. You know how many Carters there are? Wayne could have released like an 8-disc fucking “Commemorative Edition,” that’s how much stuff he had in the can. Why do you have to be so fucking stingy? And of course if the album is in the can, it’s going to get leaked. Watch it happen. And then watch the meltdown that ensues.
It’s so disappointing to see this. It’s almost like an R. Kelly situation where the dude doesn’t want anyone’s advice or opinions.
Lupe is bar-none one of the nicest lyricists to ever fucking do it and what’s scarier is that he’s continuned to get nicer. That’s the shit that’s extra scary. The BMF shit? Bananas. The fans want more, but they can only put up with so much of this isolationism and lashing-out and ex-affiliates, bloggers, etc. Sad shit. Sad, sad shit.

Nah has made/ helped and destroyed many of the new rappers that we hear about, but Lu came in around the time this was starting and Nahright did not have the influence it does now.
even eskay himself would say that. Granted the shine eskay gave him helped, but not in a way that would have made or broke his career like he could do to some of these other kids now days.

the over saturation of wayne, as i said before, was for the launch pad of young money as much as it was for wayne the solo artist on the rise.
what would lupe release free to the people, in terms of content, that’ll match waynes free releases? they don’t rap about the same things. weezy doesn’t have too many concept songs, nevermind freestyles. it’s all filler, recycled content, that is dope at times, don’t get me wrong, but, lupe doesn’t seem to write from that perspective. even if he’s brag rapping it has depth and more detail.
like i said, maybe he just doesn’t want that level of fame. he’s already attained success. thas undeniable.
