na labels have no idea what there doing ive had people i know with projects in the can ready to go and the a&r for the project leave and they get put on a ten year waitl list or until the contracts up. It could be its planned for a certain album cycle ie someone who can sell more albums on the label has a project deadline coming up so the money is already spent on marketing and promotion for that aritist. There really are a million factors why artist cant get there music out labels are folding for more reasons than piracy there business model is still in the 80s

Just to clarify getting a grammy nod doesnt make a good song.. just that both of his previous albums had songs that were.. also both of those songs were his lead singles

and even with the critical acclaim that came with those songs lupe still did mediocre numbers..

So just looking at the situation objectively i can see why his album has been pushed back
