No the closest thing the Beatles did you a song that caused controversy early in their careers was Please Please Me, and it didn’t get much flak. The Beatles were seriously considered a nice band, and in the early to mid 60s most already considered them the nice alternative to the Stones, who were considered the bad boys.
    ^
judging by your previous comments on the Beatles, and more specifically by this statement, i’m convinced that you’re only aware of what’s regarded as “early Beatles” material. if this is true (which i’m pretty certain it is), then you should really do yourself a favor and go discover everything they released after “Revolver” (1967-70), and the social-political circumstances that these latter albums were released under.
    —————————————————–

No. Like ANYONE my age, I discovered the Beatles from Revolver and onward first, THEN the early Beatles. The first Beatles song I ever heard was Eleanor Rigby. And when I got serious with them, Revolver and Sgt. Peppers were the first albums I DLed.

Yes they courted controversy then. But that doesn’t discredit my point that the Beatles were accepted where Elvis was not. They were encouraged by the mainstream media when they first debuted, and it helped them get popular.

Kanye West has courted controversy later in his career, with his records. His last two records are much different than his first two. The comparison still stands.

you know how much things that could mean? Jay coulda had that dude in the studio writing a 100 verses in the HOPE of getting a feature…you lot are actually taking that as a certificate that he was ghostwriting. LOL

    lets be serious

Again, no way Lupe fuckin’ Fiasco is gonna be writing for Jay-Z for the black album. You’re telling me they wouldn’t sign KanYe West onnastremf of him producing hit records, but they’ll let some kid from Chicago ghostwrite for Jay-Z for his big comeback album?

Young Chris, I’d believe. One of the other dirty State P bums, I’d believe. Lupe? LOO-PAY? No. Possible? Sure, of course. PROBABLE? Fuck no.
    ————————————————

For what Jay wants Lupe would be a much better fit than Ye. I’m not as big a Ye fan as you but I’m a pretty good fan and Kanye even now doesn’t have the delivery of a natural rapper. Of course they were hesitant to sign him. He had a bad delivery and didn’t rap about the same things as the rest of the Roc dudes.

Are you crazy he is already at 100k and thats only 50 percent of the numbers, hitsdailydouble, states he is on pace to sale 25k more than his last album…..big boi from outkast sold40k and he went 10x plat at a point in time, trust ross does over 200k those are great numbers in todays time

I agree to a point, but make the music. One mixtape a year, one album a year, some features, and chill. He doesn’t need to pull some 3 mixtapes in one day shit, or put out albums every year that get progressively more gimmicky, but put out SOMETHING.

  50. Beezy Says:

Iceberg your saying he will do 200k total, or 200k first week…no way he does that first week.

I think 100k is respectable for Ross…but niggas was thinking he was actually going to make waves and do numbers. Nope.

  51. koa29 Says:

    Ross did like 160k with DTR tho…this shit should’ve done more, there’s no denying it…so i’ll call it a flop…it’s a dope album yeah, but still a flop…regardless if it’s a #1 album

but knowing ross, he’s gunna run around braggin about having another #1 album…

  52. Rey Says:

@ Iceberg– #1, let’s keep it friendly. I’m not attacking Jay or discrediting the ridiculously good lyrics on BP2.

What I meant was that, for Jay-Z, that album kinda flew under the radar. ’03 B&C got spins, Excuse Me Miss got spins, and it was obviously commercially successful, but it wasn’t a Jay-Z event the way some other albums were. The songs on TBA felt like Comeback Music. The songs on BP2 felt like standard issue stuff that could’ve come from any Jay album, with the exception of the one over the Good Bad & Ugly beat tombout Nas.

  53. koa29 Says:

BP2 was a good album…but that double disc shit ruined it, he stayed tryna take shots at Nas all album long, and it failed…

like so many nahggas have said, if he just cut down the tracklist it would’ve been one of his best
