Video: MF DOOM – Beef Rapp (Live)

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Here’s some pretty good footage of somebody purporting to be DOOM performing “Beef Rapp”, which will appear on his upcoming live album, Expektoration Live, due out this September on Gold Dust.

Before all the hype about “DOOM-posters,” MF DOOM was regarded as one of hip-hop’s finest live performers, delivering flawless versions of his tongue twisting rhymes while ratcheting up the energy behind his deadpan delivery. Expektoration returns the focus to DOOM’s live abilities, showcasing the artist at his best. Look for Expektoration Live Featuring Big Benn Klingon September 14th on Gold Dust.

RIP Rammellzee

ramellzee

So I was hoping this would turn out to be a false rumor, but with no official word saying otherwise, it appears that Hip-Hop/Graffitti icon Rammellzee has passed away. Fab 5 Freddy announced the news yesterday on Twitter, and seeing as how those guys go back to the very genesis of this thing of ours, his word is most likely bond.

If you’re not familiar with Rammellzee, you can school yourself here, here and here. There’s also alot of great documentation in Jeff Chang’s book Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop. Just don’t let KRS-One catch you reading it.

Rest in power.

“If you not talking about Freekey Zekey, I’m talking about you”

Oh shit this ninja Zeke just had me rolling. During an interview with Star & Bucwild, he calls out DJ Clue for not shouting him out, and French Montana for speaking ill of Capo.

What Em Did Was Silly

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Eminem’s Recovery moved 741,000 units according to Billboard. This will be his 6th straight #1 album.

“Recovery’s” debut week sales surpasses the first week of Eminem’s last set, “Relapse,” which began at No. 1 in 2009 with 608,000. It also beats the opening of 2005′s “Curtain Call: The Hits” which entered at No. 1 with 441,000 in 2005.

Eminem’s new album also wows digitally, as downloads made up 255,000 of its first week. That’s the second-biggest digital week for an album in history. Only Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” notched a larger frame, when it debuted with 288,000 downloads in the summer of 2008.

So this guy sells more digital downloads than most rappers can give away for free. Fucking awesome.
