mickboogie-bigboi-rickross-southernplayalisticmaybachmusic

Miss Info got word on Mick Boogie’s Southernplayalisticmaybachmusic mash-up mixtape that drops tomorrow.

As you can probably tell from the title, it’ll have Big Boi on Ross songs like “Super High” and Ross on Big Boi classics like “Player’s Ball” and newer tracks too like “Shine Blockers”.

The inspiration for the project most likely came from Rozay’s mention on the “Window Seat” remix.

Add that to the fact that he signed with No Limit and Cash Money, and you have your answer right there

    ^

what? that he’s fuckin w/a DEFJAM alum. a certain NL/CM marketing plan carbon? word?

bizarro world again? dame/jay aint start that CEO minded/rapper shit?

this c-section logic neva fails. smh

    ^^

    I don’t understand what your saying…

My point ( in relation to Slum’s post) was that Spitta is not “Shining” aka more mainstream or whatever because his career path (and his actual ability to make music) was pretty shitty. He signed to No Limit after the wave was over, and signed with Dwayne when he wasn’t that popular (yet).

If that is what you are disagreeing with (and I seriously don’t understand your post), then explain how I’m wrong.

And yeah, Drake jus’ garanteed a follow-up with those numbers he did.

    not bad.
    —————————

Yeah, given how quickly sales are deteriorating, I’ think that’s more impressive than T.I. doing 585k, or even Jay doing 475k [especially since TML leaked earlier].

That said, not as impressive as Wayne doing a milli, or Kanye almost doing a milli on Graduation.

Although as far as money is concerned outside of touring Drake stands to make more than Wayne/Kanye, because he’s way more likely to strike acting and endorsement deals.

And aside form singing and rapping mixing together more, I don’t see newer guys following Drake.

The new popular mold of rapper was set from 07-09 by Wayne and Kanye. So far the imitators can’t hold a candle to the inventors.

I wouldn’t put it past him either. His popularity with the females is grossly underrated. At this point he’s as good as Jay at making hits, and he’s more popular with females. And Southern rap fans must pay more because Southern rapper sell better for some reason.

    @ Kev,

I had a pretty lengthy answer for you, backed up by facts and whatnot, but apparently Ashmi’s shitty website decided it didn’t deserve to be posted. To answer your question about which label had the best run:

    1. No Limit
    2. Roc-A-Fella
    3. Cash Money (past and current)

Percy was able to get platinum plaques outta himself, Corey, and Silkk (while crossing that nigga over, word to that Mya shit), Mystikal, etc, while getting gold ones outta such luminaries as Mr. Serv-On, Romeo, Fiend, Soulja Slim, Young Bleed, etc. Plus, Percy gotta get his credit for putting together the model for that MCEO shit, plus diverisfying his portfolio with the movies/soundtracks/shoes/clothing/toys/etc. Plus, give Percy credit for somehow being able to release EVERY artist’s project he ever signed… Ask O & Sparks, Da Rahnjaz, Diamonds in Da Ruff, Peedi Crakk, or such Cash Money artists as Lac & Stone, Mikkey Halsted, TQ, Strings, etc.

  77. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

Best Labels? off the top of my head:

    -Def Jam: Obvious
-Roc-A-Fella: not as big as people say it was, but very influential, and had one of the best collections of production and rapping talent
-Cash Money: Two different era’s in music, Cash Money has been big. As a label it barely resembles it’s old incarnation at all. That’s impressive. Most labels don’t last after a shift in hip hop styles. This one got bigger.
-Aftermath: Also got big in different period of hip hop. 99-06 it had one of the best runs in hip hop.

This is based on popularity and music, if we went just music the whole thing get’s way too subjective.

I see what you’re saying, but a big part of 50′s self marketing was beefing with other dudes. So the options of collaborating with guys outside of the Aftermath Stable wasn’t really there for him even if he wanted to.

As for building up stars to ride off when you cool, whether he tried or not Jay had more success with that than 50. Kanye is singlehandedly maintaining his artistic credibility while he make cheesy hits that get surprisingly popular.
