Video: Drake Interview w/ DJ Semtex (Pt. 2 of 2)
“NahRight. I’m a big NahRight supporter.”
Here’s the main part of Semtex‘s interview.
Drake breaks down each TML track in great detail, talks about wanting a slimmer guest list on the next LP, improving his stage performance, Andre 3000 telling him it was “too early”, avoiding Ustream/Twitter as much as possible because he actually doesn’t like seeing himself online all the time, and taking the negative online to heart.

June 18th, 2010 at 10:22 pm
Some of the oil you’re seeing is the colors you described. 1. All oil isn’t black. 2. There are various forms of oil, from Mayan to Venezuelan to Saudi black gold. 3. Dispersants. 4. Emulsification, can change the texture and color of any oil.
In some sick way this oil spill will and has to bring about change.

Hands down…best interview he ever did!
June 18th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
LF:
“I personally think that SETI is looking in the wrong direction. If, for example, we’re walking down a country road and we see an anthill, do we go down to the ant and say, “I bring you trinkets, I bring you beads, I bring you knowledge, I bring you medicine, I bring you nuclear technology, take me to your leader”? Or, do we simply step on them? Any civilization capable of reaching the planet Earth would be perhaps a Type III civilization. And the difference between you and the ant is comparable to the distance between you and a Type III civilization. Therefore, for the most part, a Type III civilization would operate with a completely different agenda and message than our civilization.
Let’s say that a ten-lane superhighway is being built next to the anthill. The question is: would the ants even know what a ten-lane superhighway is, or what it’s used for, or how to communicate with the workers who are just feet away? And the answer is no. One question that we sometimes ask is if there is a Type III civilization in our backyard, in the Milky Way galaxy, would we even know its presence? And if you think about it, you realize that there’s a good chance that we, like ants in an anthill, would not understand or be able to make sense of a ten-lane superhighway next door.
So this means there that could very well be a Type III civilization in our galaxy, it just means that we’re not smart enough to find one.”

@foekist:
“he just switches to whatevers hot.”
^
Jay made a career out of following the current “hot” trends. i’ve been a huge Jay stan since summer ’96, but facts is facts. name one single trend that he started and i’ll tell you exactly where he stole it from. not sure if there’s enough webspace though. . .

@911: yeah, that’s the game in a nutshell. this has got to be the biggest “WTF!?” moment in all of rap. until things improve, i’ll just keep Camo Season, Champ pt. 3, and BOAB on constant repeat. that’s my lane.
^>in the end, it’s still about skills and producing songs that people will play and be happy about playing. That other shit is really just that, other shit.

Id say Jay made throwbacks popular, button-ups, shyt man its late I can’t think, but comparing Fat Joe and Jay from an originality standpoint is no comparison. Jay even kinda led this whole trend of rappers colaborating with these alternative musicians.

Jay made throwbacks popular
^
nope. you’ve got to give that one to Fab if anybody. there’s barely any evidnence of this besides him rocking a North Carolina jersey in a video where he’s rapping about wearing a North Carolina jersey.
button-ups
^
i can begrudgingly give you this. cat’s have always worn a button-up to get extra fresh, but Jay did influence the inappropriate wearing of button-ups during his Black album phase.
this whole trend of rappers colaborating with these alternative musicians.
^
? Linkin Park & Coldplay? smh. i’ll be nice and say that there were a handfull of MC’s throughout the history of rap who have colaborated with alternative musicians and were pretty damn succesfull at doing so. Jay gets zero credit for this one.
