I don’t know if a club banger or radio single can even be described as wack. If they were trying to kick knowledge and fucked up facts, or if they took a left field stance on something, or if they were off beat, or if they were rapping like fuckin’ Biz Markie in ’88, maybe then you can call it wack.
If they said “Under Pressure” was a club banger single from jump, expectations would’ve been different. They didn’t, so we expected something epic and poignant.
Only difference is, some of us are able to see this for what it is, and some of us wish it was 1999.

^^
The contrast of Fergie’s half rapping high pitch screech works well as a contrast to the bottom of the bass. It’s got like 8 hooks, I respect hooks that are sticky. This doesnt have a hook (not yet), one of the reasons why if this is the final version, its not going to work in the club. And simply put, the beat on Boom Boom Pow is better.

I like Jay’s verse.
And there’s definitely a foreign kinda vibe to the beat that I like. Some of it is extraneous, and yes, a chorus changes the whole complexion.
My opinion stands. I like this. Would I have picked this beat/concept for the two involved? No. I still like it, and aside from the busy-ness of the beat and that “ducking clubs/tiger woods” stuff (funny how eliminating the word “like” can rile people up), I don’t see what everyone is freaking out over.
