A: Startlingly weak. Very, very weak. Surprising considering how good Lil’ Wayne and KanYe West are at concept songs. - dilla is the undisputed GOAT.. IMO, he makes the best hip-hop beats for any type of style/sound, whatever, but if that were in question, let’s not forget that he was instrumental in the start of the neo-soul movement.
when jd had d’angelo and badu hot, cats like whitney houston and boyz 2 men couldn’t even drop an album anymore.. one could argue that dilla changed the landscape of hip-hop AND r&b….

Dude, if NR or any other comments section was really around like that in late ’04, I was saying the same shit about Game. When someone absolutely reeks of being over-pushed, I can’t really take it.
Game’s business plan was the same, some fantastical backstory that clashed with what was on public record, and all of this praise for someone that will never be Top 20–he was just pushed by the right people.
Plus, since we’re at it, “The Documentary” was a hundred and fifty billion times better than “Thank Me Later.”

Yeah.. I don’t like that ’03 Neptunes bounce he’s got. I liked Docs Advocate because it was like a concept, tribute album to The Chronic, and he went for the same thing with some of the features on LAX, but this whole neptunes “Ode to ’03″ thing? I don’t think it works with him. I honestly think he should do a Ready To Die kinda thing, just those ol’ gritty east coast beats. He’s moreso built for that than the shiny happy bouncey bounce stuff.
