PICS: Rhymefest – Prosperity
The title of the song is “Prosperity” and it’s about televangelists and religious leaders that exploit people. One night I was watching TV and the televangelist said “GAWD, wants to change your life!” and it inspired me to write the song.
I sent out an open call through Twitter, Facebook & Myspace to get the actors/actresses for the song and lots of people came out. My character Minister Mischief wants to save your soul and lighten your burden by lightening your pockets!
-Rhymefest
The next single off El Che, out now.

You can’t say cudi, drake or bob cause those guys aren’t pure rappers. Is wale a success his album sole 25k first week
^
so if you sing as well as rap you’re not a pure rapper now?
somebody tell tariq trotter he been fuck in up tho, he prolly too rich to listen.
AND he’s a pure rapper.

hiphop has evolved. its more mature now. its not stuck in a little bubble of MPCs, samples and cocaine raps. All genres evolve with time. Hiphop is starting to understand its full potetential as these new artists encorporate new styles such as Rock, Electo-Pop etc. The ENERGY still Hip-Hop, but as we all know, energy is never destoryed, it continually transforms into new forms. B.O.B, Drake, Cudi are all as Hip-Hop as Gangstarr/Nas were. Gangstarr/Nas were talking to the youth of that time, who could relate to their raps. Kids these days don’t relate to that shit anymore. Times have changed. It’s cool to be a nerd. It’s uncool to be a 30 year old bum selling drugs. If Nas was an upcomming rapper now, he would be singing on his hooks and rapping about relationships. The whole over-sized T-Shirt, ignorant gangster appeal died with G-Unit and when Lupe + Kanye rose to fame. that era of hiphop is dead and buried now.

if ya look at it Hip Hop has done a 360, coz in ”the golden era” there was room for all different types of rappers, styles & sounds, jus like there iz now,
iz relevance defined by album sales or your personal perspective & the shit your going through (good or bad0??
