Em spent some guala on this vid and the song is BIG….y’all stop hatin…a nigga give you some’n real and y’all bitch up but when parole/co/officer ricky push them lies in ya’ face y’all go all supa head at a hip-honors show. Em = GOAT why you ask? he’ll battle you , he’ll go political, storytellin cappabilities are nuts, metaphorically insane and realness is uber high. need Isay more?
^It really did though. Especially compared to all the other tapes that have dropped recently…I’ll let that slide (n) cause usually their choice in beats is pretty ill…

funny that voltron compared this to lose yourself, because this is my favorite eminem single since lose yourself. this is em’s lane right here….he did his thing here for real….i prefer 8 mile Em to Encore Em every day of the week and twice on Sunday…he needs to stick to the emotional joints and leave the funny voice sh*t alone
Em = GOAT why you ask? he’ll battle you , he’ll go political, storytellin cappabilities are nuts, metaphorically insane and realness is uber high. need Isay more?
^ em has no classic political raps, but he definitely has a classic story rap with ‘stan’. i don’t think he’s the goat. i do think him and royce should be a group though. those guys are like the wonder twins, they’re twice as powerful when they get together…
Eminem is the best lyricist alive imo. no one is constructing rhymes schemes like him right now
note: i said lyricist not overall MC/rapper
^ nah, guys like crooked i and elzhi are creating arguably sicker rhyme schemes. i think that marshall was really inspired by that slaughterhouse album. would love to hear what him, royce, and elzhi would do in a studio together on some detroit super-team ish…
Em = GOAT why you ask? he’ll battle you , he’ll go political, storytellin cappabilities are nuts, metaphorically insane and realness is uber high. need Isay more?

Yeah, you’ll need to say it all again as I couldn’t hear anything aside from the sound of Eminem’s nuts gargling down your throat.
that pink song is ok nothin conceptually amazin the verses on this were cool but the hook sounded hella lame and personally i really dont see the hype in stan…
Rick tells 1515 that he and Erykah plan to shoot a video for the remix to “Window Seat”:
“I had to come get the queen,” Ross said about the video. “They had her boxed up.” The clip starts with Ross coming to get the Grammy-winning songstress from jail. “It was only right. I was swerving through Dallas in that Porsche Panorama turbo. I had to slide up on her, scoop her up. We got back to business. We went on another caper.

i really don’t get how anyone could like this song. the hook sounds like christian rap or something. that said…is there any truth to this album leaking business?

word… this song clearly sucks… anybody cosigning this stuff is just emotionally invested in Marshall for whatever reason… but im sure when they are alone and have a moment of clarity, they know in their hearts that his songs been wack for 5 or 6 years now… he not even hiphop no more, he just says rhymes real fast over pop instrumentals … that aint ill …

eminem is nice when he wanna be..neither of these songs are cuttin it but the mainstream will eat it up, fuck all the features for the album but i still think he’s gonna drop a good album. not classic based on the christian rap single and that doug funny bangin on a trash can shit
if they album good i’ll support, fuck ross but the shit heroin be recitin is humorous so if anything i guess that makes ross a comedian, still wouldnt buy his shit EVER
Drake’s songwriting is great when he’s on his a game. His rapping as far as delivery and even punchlines not so much. Though on Comeback Season and So Far Gone, the punchlines and wordplay were dope too, for the most part.
a few people keep saying how ill Eminem is lyrically, but i dont never see or hear these alleged verses of genius… we always upping quotes and paraphrasings of crafty wordsmiths like Ghostface and Nas and DOOM and Camron and JayE and JayZ… but i aint NEVER seen no one up no Eminem lyrics… not once in my life… and dont start now, cause its too late …

Em is also a good songwriter first, despite his technical skills. He was never a rapper who gave quotables, but his albums, character [when it was fresh especially] are as choesive as a rappers done one.
Nas and Jay didn’t make a comparably cohesive character to rap from the perspective of untill the last decade, with Stillmatic, and Blueprint [yes, I know Illmatic is great as is It Was Written, RD].
Not to mention a lot of Em’s genius is really contextual, the songs were funnier and more powerful when they were released.

Disagree. This is rap, black dudes get away with vaguely and sometimes explicitly racist stuff all the time. The fact that Em also got away with some vague racism just shows that hip hop’s attach on political correctness knows know racial boundaries [a good thing].
Cosign on tracks like White America being great political and social songs, Em just went after censorship as his main issue, as opposed to some gay underground dude rapping the same shit about revisionist history and poor people being held won. Not saying it wrong, just old.

ok… but ive never put charles hamilton in any top 10 or 20 lists either… he was just a personal favorite, who has fallen off (just like Eminem has)… Charles aint even nicer than Drake or Danny Brown now… i have no qualms with that… this is about people giving Eminem all this credit for this and that, with no proof besides record sales to support it… and we all know record sales dont prove skill level…
so whats the point then?… how can you be a great lyricist if your quotes dont bear witness…
and you saying his albums were great “contextually”?… what were the contexts?… trailer trash stories, Kim , momma and Haille?… please… spare us …
———————————————-
I know you’re better than putting quotables as a necessary ability for a rapper to be great. It’s a common trait of many great rappers, but not a neccessity. You yourself have mentioned great songwrititing as being more important [re: Drake].
re Contexuality: A whole lot of his stuff, especially his second and third records are built on his responses to the attacks he got from censorship and social organizations. He’s basically a guy who made attacking political correctness his cause, and to forget the climate surrounding his stardom when he made his classics really takes away from the ability to judge his stuff, hence your tipper gore comment.

the thing that makes em and jay great is that they make it seem like their fighting the ‘powers that be’ when in reality they’re only making money for them
I think some of the beats like without me was unneccesary to get the point across he coulda had a better beat fuck that comical shit but he still murdered that song

I think we’re on similar pages on this, except I’d say that the thing that makes those two great is that they can paint themselves as outsiders fighting against system and convention, while the views and ideals they stand for are very popular.
A similar guy is Howard Stern. Presents himself as outrageous, dangerous, iconoclastic, but is in reality very accessible and holds populist views and morals.

This entire response seems to hinge on a misunderstanding of what “political correctness” means…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_correctness
Em is definitely a guy who challenged political correctness. The fact that he could reach white people just made it more potent.
Not sure why you brought up being gangsta into this.

for sure. don’t get me wrong. i like Em. i don’t think he’s jesus christ or anything, but when on his game, he can make some good music. i’m rooting for this album to be a good one…but with this song, i can’t imagine it being more than average.

You don’t need to go on a political show to attack political correctness…Em’s a musician, he communicates the best that way. Same with Mos Def, who’s an idiot every time he comes on Real Time with Bill Maher– but who makes great music.
Music has different goals from artist to artist, and listener to listener. Challenging social norms/boundaries is one most listeners agree is important. Most of the attacks didn’t happen over Dre’s circus beats btw.
Well, that’s pretty much why I thought it was a little occurd for u to say you’d never use it again on said thread jus’ because some idiot thought it’d be cool to use it and portray himself as being u …
The same way other white rappers before and after him couldn’t reach them?
Being a popular white rapper is still uncommon. That alone puts the whole he’s white explanation of his fame to rest.

If you can’t name any then my point stands….Em’s didn’t reach that white audience JUST because he was white. He was also REALLY good.
Em’s not really relatable to suburban whites any more than Jeezy. If anything, Kanye and Drake are more relatable–and they’re not considered white.
Word. No one cares / knows / understands / likes / wonders / cares [yes, cares again] / hears what Gucci’s sayin’. Specially because I bet he ain’t sayin’ nothin’ [no fat joe song], really.
But the beats are more than enough for bitches to get down with it.

Yelawolf will not hit big. He’s quite good, though.
Eminem is not a relate-able white dude for most of his audience– as far as background goes. He was much poorer than them and had a much worse history.
The mom-hate? That’s very relate-able these days. But give hm credit for being able to convey those feelings honestly and well. Had he not done so well, I don’t see why anyone would listen to him.
Only problem with Em is he nvr crossed over, backpackers and white folks love Em, but he nvr crossed over black america, ive never in my life seen a ninja stressed out and just jammin Em, ive nvr been chillin on mlk and dudes just jammin Em out there car or pulling up to the club, it just does not happen
wow u tards sit on the cpu blogin about how this man fell off etc. Yet he’s putting out the hottest freestyles and features in the game. Not Afraid is for mass appeal..hes still giving the real rap fans some heat, but in order to sell albums you have to win over the highschool kids parents. Keep bloggin while he mind boggles…
@RNC- we both agree em is great at his craft but Yelawolf aint that nice, nothin appealin about him(pause) same goes for asher. Em’s that good white ppl arent afraid to back him up because most lyricists cosign dudes talent. Who cosignin the rest of them bums?

so jus because its sincere then it deserves to be accepted as good? well fuck it Nelly was sincer on that Over and Over song wit Tim Mcgraw…i certify that classic status
oh4werd: So clearly getting the respect of other black ARTISTS [if not black listeners] is important, and helped Em. Hip hop is fiercely protective of it’s grassroots culture [or it was until the last couple of years], so white rappers don’t get the cosigns necessary to hit big audiences and be more than one hit wonders without working for it.
I think we’re almost in complete agreement. I just don’t think Em reaching a white audience was a given based on his pastiness.
BTW, Asher was crap and was deservedly a one hit wonder. My point exactly.

yes. Dre is in the equation for ALL of eminems early #1 songs.

i thought because a record sold/ popped up at number one didnt mean shit…. eminem is good without dre beats, but it doesnt hurt to have the dre makin his beats. ftr i think Dre made almost all the beats on Relapse and i thought damn near all them sucked

Roc-A-Fella Records boss Damon Dash has been hit with a $1 million lawsuit by his ex-wife, who claims the rap mogul provided phony emails during a court battle involving their son.
According to documents filed in court, Linda Williams claims that Damon Dash is harassing his own son, Damon II.
Williams claims Damon Dash held the 17-year-old against his will after he was caught DJ’ing in a New York city nightclub. Afterwards, it is alleged that Dash held the teen against his will in his apartment.
The New York Daily News also reports that Damon Dash allegedly lied to the NYPD when Williams attempted to obtain a restraining order against him.
Then, Dash allegedly provided bad testimony in court and submitted 10 fake emails that Williams claims were faked to prove that she violated a Family Court protective order, which she denies.

See I’m influenced by the ghetto you ruined (talkin to whites who put drugs in the ghetto)
That same dude you gave nothin’, I made somethin doin’ (i made a dollar after 15 cents)

Got dropped roasters, from botched robberies niggaz crotched over
Mommy’s knocked up cause she wasn’t watched over (young black teen prgnt)
Knocked down by some clown when child support knocked
No he’s not around – now how that sound to ya, jot it down (single parent households)
I bring it through the ghetto without ridin ’round
hidin down(for the white boys that wud nvr come to a real hood) duckin strays from frustrated youths stuck in they ways
Just read a magazine that fucked up my day
How you rate music that thugs with nothin relate to it?
I help them see they way through it – not you
Can’t step in my pants, can’t walk in my shoes
Bet everything you worth; you lose your tie and your shirt
I had to hustle, my back to the wall, ashy knuckles
Pockets filled with a lot of lint, not a cent
Gotta vent, lot of innocent of lives lost on the project bench
Whatchu hollerin’? Gotta pay rent, bring dollars in
By the bodega, iron under my coat, feelin braver
Doo-rag wrappin my waves up, pockets full of hope
Do not step to me – I’m awkward, I box leftier often
My pops left me an orphan, my momma wasn’t home
Could not stress to me I wasn’t grown; ‘specially on nights
I brought somethin home to quiet the stomach rumblings
My demeanor – thirty years my senior
My childhood didn’t mean much, only raisin green up

Drake’s songwriting is great when he’s on his a game. His rapping as far as delivery and even punchlines not so much. Though on Comeback Season and So Far Gone, the punchlines and wordplay were dope too, for the most part.

Em is definitely a guy who challenged political correctness.
——-
so… whats that got to do with making good music…
if he wants to challenge political correctness, let him go on Nightline and Meet The Press and challenge the Politicians he allegedly depises …
trust me… i know what political correctness is… and him going at Tipper Gore belongs on Sunday Afternoon MSNBC… not coming out the speakers over circus beats …
—————————————————————
You don’t need to go on a political show to attack political correctness…Em’s a musician, he communicates the best that way. Same with Mos Def, who’s an idiot every time he comes on Real Time with Bill Maher– but who makes great music.
Music has different goals from artist to artist, and listener to listener. Challenging social norms/boundaries is one most listeners agree is important. Most of the attacks didn’t happen over Dre’s circus beats btw.

The funny thing about Renegade song is i always thought Jayz verse was a real verse and somthing a ninja could identify with
See I’m influenced by the ghetto you ruined (talkin to whites who put drugs in the ghetto)
That same dude you gave nothin’, I made somethin doin’ (i made a dollar after 15 cents)
what I do through and through and
I give you the news – with a twist it’s just his ghetto point-of-view
The renegade; you been afraid
I penetrate pop culture, bring ‘em a lot closer to the block where they
pop toasters, and they live with they moms

My childhood didn’t mean much, only raisin green up
Raisin’ my fingers to critics; raisin’ my head to the sky
BIG I did it – multi before I die (nigga)
No lie, just know I chose my own fate
I drove by the fork in the road and went straight

with 20 g’s in my denim jeans
if she f-cking me she lucky just to get some chucky cheese
I bust my nut and holla lucky me
its tatted in my vein I remain sucker free
my vocal like an atom bomb in the Avalon
black roses for singing the saddest song

Im the don inshallah, now pour me my Dom
being gangstas a cold job
wack a n-gga go rejoice with a blow job
always wanted Rolls Royce with no job
then again all I fear is a dope charge
all I fear is a dope charge
tell me whats the odds for appeals for a dope boy
who shed tears for a dope boy
oh what happens to the kids of the dope boy
orphans, f-cking orphans
born defending some n-gga never been on offence

Not hating, we are having a hip hop convo…i just hate when a “white” person does something well and whites crown him as the greatest ever, the same thing happen with larry bird, elvis and a host of other white rock n roll people that stole their whole style from blacks…the rolling stones (see muddy waters) and now Em, we have no prob. with whites using our art form the prob. is you people have a habbit of mimicing what we do and thinking u guys invented it…see rock roll, jazz and the blues…
