This recent rash of rumors about the alleged Illuminati ties of people like Jay-Z, Rihanna, Oprah and whoever else has got to be one of the corniest trends in rap ever. This is easily the corniest shit since the “Stop Snitching” debate. Are you all fucking serious with this shit? A Black man (or woman) rises to a certain level of success and the only way to explain that in ya’ll minds is that they must be in bed with some secret society? This mentality disgusts me. Shame on you morons who just discovered internet conspiracy theories last year and are now running around spouting these nonsensical tales to the babies.
Look, like Talib, I read all of the Behold A Pale Horse books when I was younger and I bought into a lot of it. And to this day I’m pretty certain that there are in fact wealthy and powerful people out there, that we’ve never heard of and probably never will, who orchestrate some of the major events that happen on this planet. Fucking duh.
Wow, what a fucking revelation: rich people run shit. Who knew. Seriously, who do you expect to be calling the shots, a bunch of poor, uneducated slobs? You mad? Well then I’d say stop wasting your time on the internet and get your fucking billions up and maybe one day you can be one of those people calling the shots.
Honestly, I think the most plausible explanation for the whole conspiracy theory movement/industry is that all of those wealthy shot caller types are planting these fantastic theories themselves so as to distract us from the much more pedestrian, but equally evil, shit that they’re really doing. Namely, keeping us poor and themselves rich. I don’t really see it being much deeper than that.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve argued with folks in the comments about this same topic. It’s like, so what if everything you guys are alledging is in fact true and the Illuminati is real and Jay and Oprah are conspirators? What the fuck are ya’ll gonna do about it? Start the revolution? You niggas can’t even get within 5 feet of Jay and O, much less the evil trillionaire overlord that is signing their paychecks.
The probability of me being labelled as Illuminati because of this post: 100%
They talk about Summer Jams past and present in part one, but in part two, Angie asks him about the Dipset reunion that’s in the works right now, and where he stands in regards to Jim and Cam.

I regret to inform you that I will not be attending the dirty south hip hop honors that’s an insult to us DIRTY SOUTH huh????smh @vh1Thu May 13 09:48:00 via EchofonSCARFACE darealscarface
Face called into the HoodHype Show last night to express his displeasure with VH1 for the “Dirty South” label that has been applied to their upcoming Hip-Hop Honors tribute to Southern MCs. Now, Scarface is probably my favorite Southern MC ever, but I’m not sure I understand his beef. He says he doesn’t appreciate being called “dirty” but at the same time he says he never had a problem with the Dungeon Family’s popularization of the term. I guess it’s one of those we-can-refer-to-ourselves-as-such-but-don’t-you-dare type of things. LOL @ this all of a sudden being an issue. But then again it’s fucking Scarface, dude has earned the right to feel however the fuck he wants.

So Kay Slay heard that segment of Jay Electronica’s interview with SpineTV where he speaks on RZA’s comments about Southern MCs and he took exception to Jay’s tone. And I can kind of understand that. When I first started this site it was right around the time that Jay-Z was still in retirement and Curtis was really the only NY dude making any kind of noise and the South was hands down winning the battle for rap supremacy. And within the rap universe there was just this general tone of hatred for anything even remotely connected to New York. And I understand why that was the case. New York artists, critics and fans had shit on the South, and other regions, for so long that it was almost inevitable that the hate would come back around. So me, I’m kinda like Slay in that I’m from New York and I don’t really take kindly to niggas talking shit about us regardless of whether that hatred was earned or not. And so I got extra defensive and I’d shit on Southern rappers that I saw as wack and I’d have these big long arguments in the comments with folks from the South and really in retrospect it was a big waste of time, but it served as an outlet for my frustration. All it really boils down to is regional pride and the desire to rep for what you identify with most strongly. And that’s really all this back and forth between Jay and Slay is about. The rest is just opinion. Nobody is right and nobody is wrong. But because these are two strong willed dudes, people seem anxious to see this turn into something more than it really is.

This easily was the best beat on BOAB2.5. Thankfully it’s also featured on The U.N.’s Heat In Here mixtape, so we can hear it how it was supposed to be heard… without LA The Darkman rapping on it Drama screaming over it.
