Drake has really only made 3 major mistakes with his career thus far.
1.) Claiming to be a legit rapper instead of just an R&B singer that could spit.
2.) Trying to please EVERYONE
3.) Signing to YM
The last of these is probably the reason for the first two. But honestly, if he had just came out from the start and established he was a singer and NOT a rapper he wouldn’t have half the problems he’s had in the past year or so tryin to appeal to real rap fans. Maybe it will equal a Grammy, but we know the Grammy’s hasn’t been known to actually hand out the best rap album each year to its rightful owner. Fuck the numbers — Cause if numbers mattered, then C3 would be the greatest album ever, when its an average album that is all production that had no business even being nominated for rap album of the year. But from a music standpoint, TML will be hella average. He may go plat in the first week, Good for Drake. He has the ability, he just is missing something that he had on SFG and Comeback Season….Maybe its the hunger. I’ll listen to the album, and in two weeks, i’ll probably keep four or five songs in my iTunes and forget the rest.
I lost respect for Drake when he compared himself to Jay-Z and J. Cole to Nas.
A) Drake isn’t and will NEVER be in the same league as Hov even if he were to lock himself in the basement with an infinite supply of beats and write for the rest of his life. Maybe he’ll be as good as his master Weezy, but even being as good as Weezy, you still ain’t in the same ballpark as the elites. But for someone who hasn’t even released an album yet to say he is the next Jay-Z, GTFO and get over yourself. Dude has too much swag.
B) J. Cole is a completely different rapper than Nas. J. Cole doesn’t rap about the same shit Nas does. Nas is like a fucking philosopher on the mic. J. Cole is just a street dude that can rap.
C) That statement just shows Drakes arrogance, as well as his ignorance towards rap music.
And for Slumbilical — maybe you should take Aubrey’s cock out of your mouth. Just cause someone wants to give their opinion and it happens to be negative doesn’t always mean they’re hating. If Drake goes plat, fucking awesome, good for him. You should care about the music, not the numbers. Its like today the numbers is what makes you good not the music. Yeah this song kind of sucks….Drake fucked up and sounded tired. I don’t mind the subject matter so much even if it’s a retread for Aubreezy, but he didn’t do it as well as he did on other songs.
And Jay did not kill anything on this song. The closest thing to a good line was that ‘top down in the winter that’s what winners do’ line or whatever that was. And he used that slow breathy flow he’s used from time to time after he came out of retirement. Which I’m starting to get Shooter’s point about it being him borrowing from Ross, since he’s rapped on a Ross remix with that flow and there it was clearly him biting Ross.
The beat was standard 40. Good stuff. I didn’t mind the hook at all, fits the mood and subject matter of the song. But he WILL eventually have to figure something new out, probably around the same time 40 will have to add a new element to his sound.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a trusted police informant identified Memphis Grizzlies player Zach Randolph as a major marijuana supplier in Indianapolis, 6News’ Jack Rinehart reported.

Robert McFadden is being held in jail on $138,000 bond for the attacking the great-grandmother in her northeast Charlotte apartment.
The victim, whose name is being withheld, is being cared for by her eight children.
Her daughter Catherine Jimenz spoke out to reporters outside a court room saying,
“It’s horrifying — the most horrible thing I have ever had to experience in my life. My mother is a fragile, little 88-pound woman so I can just imagine the horror that she felt.”
When McFadden appeared in court, he had no family there to support him.

Chicago man was killed Saturday after police say he tried to steal crayons and toothpaste at a local CVS store but was apprehended and choked to death by the store manager.
Police have not released the name of the store manager but say the victim was 35-year-old Anthony Kyser a barber affectionately known as “Pops.”
Witnesses tell the Chicago Sun Times that after being caught with the items Kyser was held in a choke hold for several minutes and was yelling,
“I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe!”
45 minutes later he was declared dead at the city’s Mount Sinai Hospital.
A medical examiner has since ruled his death a homicide but Chicago police plan to treat his death as “accidental.”

The story of a man who was choked to death by a CVS employee after stealing toothpaste from the Chicago store on Saturday is getting even more scrutiny, after police admitted Monday that a Cook County sheriff’s officer was on the scene when the man, Anthony Kyser, was killed.
Kyser, a 35-year-old barber, was chased out of the Little Village store and restrained by an employee of the store who saw him stealing, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The employee then strangled him to death.
Witnesses said Kyser, of the 1400 block of South Hamlin, cried, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe!” as the CVS worker held him in a chokehold for what they thought was several minutes.
Witnesses told the newspaper that there was an off-duty officer on the scene while Kyser was being choked, and after initially saying they were unaware of a police presence, the Chicago Police Department now admits that a Cook County sheriff’s officer was on the scene:
As the correctional officer pointed a weapon at Kyser and told him to stop struggling, Kyser repeatedly pleaded that he couldn’t breathe, the witnesses said.
[Chicago Police Lt. Lt. Maureen] Biggane said a surveillance video shows the correctional officer in the alley, speaking on a cell phone, but does not show her pointing a weapon. The officer waited for an ambulance to arrive, but left before uniformed Chicago Police arrived, Biggane said.
Police wouldn’t release the correctional officer’s identity. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Patterson said there is nothing for the sheriff to investigate, based on Chicago Police’s account of her actions.
Chicago Police will not press charges against the unnamed CVS manager, despite a medical examiner’s finding that man’s death was a homicide, reports MyFoxChicago.

Kyser was known as “Pops” to his three former step-children, reports the Chicago Tribune. Kyser’s ex-wife Ann Marie Balboa questioned the police department’s decision not to press charges against the CVS manager:

Just had performance and salary reviews… Had a really good review by my boss lady.. but she did say that she walks by and sees me on this Hip Hop site alot.. I started to pull the race card… but then she threw them raise numbers at ya boy… I quickly forgot about that…
