   “We bought 100,000 copies of Thank Me Later and only sold 12. Give us our money back.” The label then “buys them back”, but the shipped number still counts towards platinum/gold or whatever.

   (at least I think that’s how it works. some mailroom guy could just go down to fuckin’ Record Town and buy up all the copies of Boogie Bear Raps)

    That’s true. But I think what hl was referring to was more the rumor of labels inflating numbers by purchasing them without a distributor prescence at all, and just kind of storing them, lol. Word to there supposedly being a warehouse full of Dynasty CD’s in Jersey that Def Jam copped when Hov went up against Stankonia. Def farfetched, but entertaining to imagine nonetheless.

    Yes I did, and I’ll call a spade a spade: The song I enjoy most from them is scarily similar to a song from another band, but I still like it. Fact is, FOB’s been mostly on their same ish up until their Infinity On High album when Pete Wentz got all weirded out by the fame..

    But the fact is, FOB didn’t/doesn’t have the level of undeserved acclaim and saturation Aubrey Graham has, not to mention the fact that FOB is CLEARLY part of a “scene” where stuff is supposed to overlap..
