April 27th, 2010 at 4:34 am
But Vado has that whole talent thing going for him. Papoose just had the whole conscious thug thing going for him when people wanted that to blow. Once the gimmick faded, the forced punchlines got old and people remembered that Kay Slay’s opinion hasn’t mattered since the 90′s, his career died shortly after. And I’m surprised the little dude hasn’t died from dehydration by now, being that he wears a minimum of 50 lbs. of leather per outfit year-round. Nigga looks like he robbed the set of an old Ruff Ryders video. Pap was never really that nice to begin with. At least Vado has some sort of presence on a song. I won’t say he has star power just yet, but he’s developing well under Cam’s tutelage [||]. I mean, Pap couldn’t even hold his own with Talib on a track. He’s just not marketable (or talented) enough to make it. Vado is (I think.)
Or he could end up like .40 Cal or some shit.
It’s up in the air at this point, but I think
his chances of success are just below Curren$y/Wiz’s and marginally above J. Cole’s.
April 27th, 2010 at 4:47 am
But under proper assistance, Papoose coule have become a nice Rapper and right now he sure is better than some that are current available for us. The thing is … That moment when the Rapper lost his options and has pretty much nothing else to offer came real soon for him and he wasn’t prepared for it. Thing is, now, years later, he still ain’t prepared, so, if he did actually make it like he was trying to, I think even now he wouldn’t be that big.
People should learn from Wiz Khalifa and I don’t mean just lyrics when I say that … Back then dude was trying hard as he could to show some lyrical ability and not on the diversity of manners side, but just being able to hold his own with the words and when that was (well … on an acceptable level) established, dude switched some thing up and tried to become better and better at making songs and communicating with his fanbase and now he’s at a position where he has the space he needs to work on what ain’t mastered yet.
And the catch is he probably won’t even need too, since his fanbase keeps going and constantly accepting his way and he keeps on finding new ways to talk about the same subjects, so he’s fine for a while. If he continue to push his movement, he can get this core audience to learn something with him and slowly develop.
April 27th, 2010 at 4:47 am
I apologize for that overdose of characters …

At 2ft 6in (0.7m), Aidan is taller than his mother when she is seated. Ms Moore said: “Now he’s walking he’s more than a handful for someone my size.” She said she believes Aidan could end up being as tall as his father, Steven Fyfe, 20, who is 6ft 1ins (1.8m).

“Lyrical” Rappers<
If you’re not interesting then you suck, no matter how deep your subject matter is, no matter how clever your punchlines are, no matter how great your wordplay and rhymes. Work on delivery and personality above all else, and develop a great ear for beats–these things are like pure athleticism, and size in ball, if you don’t have them your chances of hitting big or being great are slim to none. Then work on punchlines, depth, etc.–that’s like developing a 3 point shooting range, and getting better at free throws.
People are gonna hate that analogy and say it’s dumb, but how many small, nonathletic ball players are there? A handful. How many athletics guys with lesser talents in things like shooting get in? A lot, and some develop those skills and turn great later.

People are gonna hate that analogy and say it’s dumb, but how many small, nonathletic ball players are there? A handful. How many athletics guys with lesser talents in things like shooting get in? A lot, and some develop those skills and turn great later.
^^
True, but I’m still watching how deep the subject matter is, how clever the punchlines are and how great the wordplay and rhymes are. Those are some details I enjoy enjoying, if you can see what I mean.
Your formula is very right and is probably safe to work, but I guarantee you some of these rappers tried to “build” a personality and I saw right away that was just gimmick, while the image actually catch other people who didn’t quite look the flaws there …
So that’s my stand.

That sounds about right. He started rapping and, as he grew to offer more things musically, started communicating better with the beat and harmonizing as much as he could … Drake’s style was already like that, so I wouldn’t say it’s the same situation …
Word to Never Been off that Kush & OJ tape. He wouldn’t come up with that hook if he actually sat down and took his tome too. He and pretty much all the other artists on his level would try to use that time better and increment it as much as possible …
But not what he done. Listened to the beat and managed to create a hook that fits it nicely. Not saying it’s sensational or anything, but this little details worth mentioning always.

***Best shit on TV, in years…I wouldn’t be mad if that was the series finale, which it very well may be…they’re talking about doing a prequel, instead of new seasons, which sounds like a pretty weak move…
April 27th, 2010 at 10:26 am
What channel is this “Spartacus” show on?
April 27th, 2010 at 10:26 am
@seniorciv- that’s why I haven’t copped that Clipse, yet…can’t see myself dropping $15 for a CD…that’s enough for pussy bribes AND a downpayment on a case of tastycakes, LOL and n/h…
^Word. The music (actually the whole entertainment) industry has yet to figure that making any sort of profit is better than making no profit and they’re made reluctant to drop prices significantly.
^^^
If people think $15 is too much for a CD that you will keep for the rest of your life, you’re either fuckin broke or you don’t care enough to buy it. Quit sayin that shit is expensive. How much money $$$ do you throw away every week in bullshit that lasts minutes? Quit being like that. We’re killing Hip Hop, no one else is…cause people don’t support it anymore and are too selfish….don’t blame anybody else. All the wack music out today and everything else wack surrounding the music and the culture today is a result of what I’m saying…not the reason why people don’t buy CDs anymore. That’s just my opinion…
April 27th, 2010 at 10:26 am
i only buy music from artists i support otherwise u get the download treatment. And if i support u and u drop some bs quality work, same scenario, u become downloadable. Last cd i copped was BISD but i regret that
April 27th, 2010 at 10:27 am
Yeah, a big part of DLing illegally is the ease of it. Just go to a torrent site, a wait 3-5 minutes and you’ve got the album. No need to use credit cards or anything else like you would on itunes, no need to go to HMV or something.
I remember when Radiohead put up their album In Rainbows on their site for whatever you wanted to pay. I as well as the other people I know who wanted that album still torrented it. It was easier.
April 27th, 2010 at 10:27 am

Plus, if the album’s wack (see oh4werd x Before I Self Destruct case), your money would already be spent. With Downloading, what do you lose ? Time ? The arguments you got to affirm now with more precision that the album’s not worth it compensates that. Space on your hard disk ? Deleter button.
So, as you said, it really comes down to the ease of it …

But seriously, yeah the internet is probably gonna kill the music industry as we used to know it in the 90s. It’s already opened the fatal wound, it seems.
The key is to not piss and moan about it and try to figure out ways of getting dope music for yourself. You may have complaints about the state of popular music now, but if YOU have no problem finding good music then there’s not a lot to complain about. I know I’m having an easier time with the internet than I would before it made traditional pathways from artist to consumer irrelevant.
And as for the artists, this can either be a good thing or a bad thing. I think we may find artists who don’t need to be tied down with record contracts making the music they want, dealing with financing it on their own [which get's cheaper as tech improves] and making money through live shows and other revenue streams like sponsorships, and merchandise sales. Smaller labels can handle these on their own.
There are already examples of this. Wiz Khalifa is apparently doing pretty good as far as live shows go. So are a lot of those Southern rappers you hate. Drake, before he signed with a major was a great example, even if he started at an advantage he really networked well and put out a cohesive mixtape. He’s getting Sprite deals before his first LP is out, kind of reminiscent of LBJ and Nike. Look at Wayne, who did most of his marketing on his own, and probably funded his album with money from live shows and guest verses.
The music industry isn’t dead. LIVE MUSIC is growing, in fact. Record labels are dying. But I don’t see anyone pissing and moaning over the horse drawn carriage industry failing after cars got big, so chill.

Record labels are dying.

Even if you could walk into bestbuy and every album was free people would still download. Let’s be real, going to store, coping or not, geting that fucking plastic off, going home, putting the shit on you computer. Shit is not happening in 2010. CD’s are dead why the fuck are we still pressing them?
Labels need to stop making CDs and pass those cost cuts onto the consumer in the form of $5 albums. If every album was 5 dollars on iTunes things would be different, but shits are still way more expensive than that and if you are looking for an older artist or an older cd, especially a rap cd, the chances it’s on iTunes is slim.
