I realize I’m walking into the hyena’s den even commenting on Nah, but Kweli is writes for the black folks and hasn’t sold out. He gets white fans because black folks are them same black zombies Nas been talkin about.
Get By is just ONE of proabaly at least 15 Kweli tracks that knock hard as fuck, and that’s just sampling his top-shelf joints. The fact that ‘if it wasn’t for Kanye’s beat on Get By cat’s wouldn’t have felt it’ is exactly the problem. Shallow ass fuckas can’t see past the instrumental. I guarantee you if that was a sing-songy Mos Def song on that same track, that shit would’ve flopped.
I highly suspect that most of the cats that are sleeping on Kweli probably do so out of necessity. They don’t wanna exercise enough brain power to hear his shit. Y’all just stick to the same “Nigga I’ma gangsta [insert punchline]” rap that got y’all here.
That’s too bad. But I get it. You’re either too old & set on Jay-Wu-Big-Pac-Nas, or too young & trendy.

Im white, and Talib is the reason i listen to hip hop. yeah ii heard all that other stuff, roots, wu tang, dmx when i was young. but now my whole world is hip hop. and no, talib might not be the best, but he is my favorite, and i love every track he says anything on. Just cause there are other talented rappers who are more slept on doesn’t make Talib any less great.
