“Good” is very subjective.

Exactly.
It depends on what your criteria for a good rapper is. He may not rap well as far as deliver/flow, or rhymes go, but he makes up for it with perfect songwriting and great cohesive albums. And he takes more SUCCESSFUL risks than any big name rapper.
I think he’s already a GOAT candidate personally, maybe not top 5 but the next album could put him there.

Niggas in the streets of NY don’t know who the fuck Pill or Freddie Gibbs or Donnis or Wiz Khalifa are.
^^^^
I don’t really ride for the above dudes, I think Gibbs has mad potential but is still heavy in the early Kast / UGK lane…but I’m still checkin for him. But my point here is that ‘Niggas in the streets of NY’ aren’t kingmakers like they were in the 90s. Dudes in NY are feeling a lot of NY artists that nobody cares about. Dudes like Gucci & Lil Boosie are having major indy careers, making major money without NY cosignage. UGK were huge in the South and NY cats were sleeping forever til Jay cosigned. This continues.
Basically I think XXL fell the f*ck off and being on that cover ain’t what it was. But Millz and all these other dudes would be better off focusing on making music that’s built to last rather than talking reckless to the press. For now, Millz is a medicore mixtape rapper who’s never put out an LP, and is now one of a dozen Wayne associates, he’s breathing and shit but he isn’t really in a position to lecture anybody on having a successful career.

Well, that’s a matter of opinion I guess. I think his songwriting and impact on hip hop offset those flaws and more.
The Beatles weren’t good at playing their instruments or singing. And like Kanye their innovations musically came with help from people who were better pure musicians [specifically George Martin for the Beatles], even if the conceptual ideas were theirs. Dudes like Lil Boosie are having major indy careers, making major money without NY cosignage. UGK were huge in the South and NY cats were sleeping forever til Jay cosigned.
^^^
Thing about that is…it’s not even about cats in the streets of NYC not knowing who these dudes are…fam, niggas in the streets of ATL don’t even know who the hell Pill or Donnis are…truth be told, Jae Millz had a very valid point in his initial comments that were ignored out of cliche typical internet blog/messegeboard posting rap nerd aversion to Millz as a member of YM…that point being the overall empty, and pretty much worthless nature of what can only be described as “blog hype”…you got guys like Gibbs, Pill, Donnis, etc on that cover who have non existent fanbases outside of arbitrary blog coverage…like seriously, you mention guys like Boosie who have successful followings without the media push behind them…that’s because a guy like Boosie has a REAL LIFE fanbase, not just a blog entries…Millz initial point, that started all of this, was if you’re gonna promote this cover every year as the “dudes that got next in the near future” than you gotta put people with actual real life tangible movements instead of a bunch of blog nerd favorites that nobody offline gives a shit about…a dude like Yo Gotti has the streets on fire all across the south and midwest…yet instead of a guy like him, you get Pill and Gibbs who nobody knows or gives a fuck about…so next year when Pill, Gibbs, and Donnis are on some Mickey Factz, Charles Hamiliton Ghosts of Empty Internet Hype Past type shit…they’re running to Gotti trying to get him on the cover after they missed the boat like they did with Drake and Nicki

I think one song, “Coldest Winter” is about his mom. It’s hard to tell for sure, since the lyrics are very abstract and rudimentary [in a good way, to go with the rudimentary sounds in the production.] But I’m pretty sure that’s the one about his mom.

And I’m not sure what you mean by Pimp C having similar songs, I’d like to hear some. I can’t imagine they’re like 808s though.
===============
i was refering to those R&Bish sounding songs
even on his solo effort they threw together contained songs where he sang the majority of the track
Pimp basically father the literal sense of 808′s & Heartbreak with his dope tales and low down dirty hoe stories

No Neva come on, saying Kanye ain’t technical and saying he shouldn’t rap at all are two completely different statements. He earned his spot.

Sure he earned it. Kanye worked real hard to get where he is and is good at making you feel his struggle I personally just don’t like to listen to him rapping. Kanye behind the boards is > Kanye on the mic. I actually think he’s a good rapper technically, but it’s a case where technique doesn’t cut it. His content and the way he lays it out doesn’t do much for me.

Jay is the Madonna of hip hop. He’ll always be the most caked up and congratulated, but more based on the timing of jumping on trends rather than starting them.

yup, all he does is slyly co-opt other people’s movement and trends and try to play it off like he did it first.

Veteran North Philadelphia emcee Peedi Crakk is home from a year-plus prison sentence, HipHopDX just learned. The State Property member, and former Def Jam/Roc-A-Fella solo artist had reportedly been sent to prison early last year for a parole violation, though details were kept private from press.
The emcee, who worked on The Roots’ 2006 Game Theory album as well as their 2008 Rising Down follow-up was released from a Pennsylvania prison April 1, said his friend and promotions manager Breigh. The emcee is now at work in a Philadelphia’s Bat Cave Studios, recording new music. Per reports, Peedi served a full-sentence, thus removing parole. Instead, the emcee has a simple-probation, which he is actively serving.
Upon his incarceration, Peedi was readying his solo debut A Night In The Life for Amalgam Digital Records. At press time, Peedi’s label and information are unknown.
HipHopDX will keep you updated.

K-Mart makes a huge difference (n) and I wasn’t hiding, there still the lakers, there capable of a comeback, but in the clutch you seen that boy boy melo step up and play lockdown defense.
Back to K-Mart, he brings toughness to the nuggets, a sense of leadership, and experience in the playoffs. He can guard the 2 thru 5 position (n) very well, and he grabs boards and gets garbage pts, if we had k-mart, we wouldn’t have went on that losing streak.
And the nuggets almost lost cause they just came offaroad game the night before, I knew they was gonna be a lil sluggish towards the end.

Wiz aint no dam freshman either he shoulda been on last years cover imo. Lesser known niggas survivin tho is prolly jus Joell and Crooked I becuz they part of SH but thats not sayin much.

I liked B.O.B.’s single.. Catchy, fun, and didn’t feature: Trey Songz, Autotune, Drake, or 808s.

He’s not in the public eye enough which i believe is part of the reason gay Drake made the Nas comparison to J. Cole and then compared himself to Jay… Somebody needs to tell Drake he need more people

@oh4werd.. Yeah, i heard that too. I’m okay with it, but I don’t think they can make it too serious. They should redo the movie set in the 80s, have some fun with it.

Well, the concept itself is kinda cheesy, but cheesy doesn’t have to be a bad thing. If they make it too serious it’ll be overkill, but they can’t make it so dumb that you feel like they’re calling you stupid for enjoying the original. Either way, it’ll be good to see if it happens. “Just directa yo’ feetsa to Daddy Green’s Pizza!”
