Video: Pharoahe Monch Interview w/ Dante Ross
Dante Ross speaks to his friend of 15 years at the Duck Down showcase.
I put this together out of love for Pharoahe Monch’s talent. I’ve known Monch for more than 15 years and since the first time I heard him spit I knew how incredible he was. It’s interesting how we met, it was due to a tragic occurrence the death of Paul C the talented producer who left the world way to soon. Monch and Prince Poetry were in a band called STP (Simply To Positive) that Paul had produced. I liked their stuff and they went on to become the seminal group Organized Konfusion a few seasons later.
I always thought Monch and OK were outstanding. His level of rapping was light years ahead of most and still is. Once upon a time I tried to sign Monch to my label Stimulated but he got away. I always wondered if Loud the machine that was my distributor at the time would have gotten behind Simon Sez would he have gotten the recognition he deserved.
I saw him tear it down at this year’s SXSW I can’t wait to hear W.A.R the record he called unapologetically lyrical and the best cohesive lyrical record he’s ever done.
Sounds good to me. Let the countdown begin.

moreso the quanity… I cant shyt on alot of these rappers just because it at my type of music, they tayloring the site to fit the need of the non commentors instead of the commentors

Right now, the strength of the site is the commenters…the breadth of topics is unparalleled, plus we got characters: Conspiracy Brothers, Bootleg Man, Young Ballers, Studio Rats, Old School Heads, Angry Backpackers, Angry Black Man, Cool White Dude who grew up with Wu-Tang, Droll English Chap, That One Cool Chick Who Be Listening to Hip Hop and Watching Sports For Real And Would Be Cool To Wife Except You Don’t Wanna Mess Up The Friendship, Technical Genius, Mr. Need More People, Aspiring Rapper Who Actually Might Make It, and so on.

there are way more visitors to this site than there are commenters…there are only like 9 comments on this post but u can bet there are 100 times that many people viewing the site right now…catering to them instead of commenters means more ad-money for eskay, meaning he doesnt have to go work a regular job…its basic business, its as if yall try not to understand…and also most people see the comments and go wtf is this shit and then disregard them because they’re never on topic…they could give 2 shits about your little petty conversations…so think again.

DP, you missed what I was saying. When I say the strength of the site is the commenter, I guarantee you people come here to read
what we say, because it’s alternately hilarious/interesting/thoughtful.
Saying lesson over when you didn’t really school anybody is like holding your fist out and dropping the mike after you just did “Chain Hang Low” acapella at open mic now and them standing there mean mugging the crowd in a b-boy stance like you really just tore the house down.
