Man, to add to my earlier stream of consciousness, where is Ness? He was probably the most overall talented member of Da Band in terms of a combination of both talent and focus. Some of those other cats had star power potential but they couldn’t get their minds right.
No shots, but I knew Da Band was destined for failure because in a band, a few of ya’ll at least gotta play instruments for it to be legitimately called a band.
Fred and Choppa could’ve made it, and Dylan too. Actually, that squad had potential to be basically the Young Money of the year 2000.

Remember, when Da Band was trying to pop, Lumidee had a hot single out, and Sean Paul was at the top. At the time, Dylan could’ve been on a lot of features. The problem with Dylan was that he got arrogant and was unfocused. He probably wouldn’t have been major out the gate by himself, but as part of a group, the collectively could have made it. Fred really could’ve been okay by himself.
What I didn’t understand was, you got people who would kill to have that opportunity. Joe 88, B-Ease, and you and GW provide a steady flow of music, without having world class facilities and one of the greatest hip hop executive producers of all time guiding you. These cats had the world in their hands and through fighting, ignorance, and laziness blew a once in a lifetime opportunity. None of that is true…
Black Rob went platinum and dropped a second album, then decided to go around robbing hotel roomss.
Puff pushed the hell out of G.Dep and that nigga DMX’d it all away by his own admission.
Puff got Shynes wack ass to a gold album before he decided to shoot the club up and get deported to Belize.
Total had platinum success until them ugly bitches started infighting and broke the fuck up.
Mario Winans was a writer and producer who dropped an album cuz he wanted to, not as an artist, so you can’t really count him.
Loon was on those I need a girl tracks and pushed as the next big thing outta Bad Boy, then dropped a shitty album and went muslim, Now that nigga is praying beside Jakk Frost and Leslie 5 times a week.
Craig Mack got caught up in the fact that BIG blew the fuck up; Can’t really blame puff for that one…
We all know what happened to the Lox… Them niggas went Platinum with Puff, went plastic with Ruff Ryders, and now they running right back to the nigga.
I mean, people give Puff a lot of shit, but he supplies his artists with everything they need to be successful… Hell, He got Yung Joc’s wack ass a platinum plaque, Da Band to Gold status, Danity Kane and Day 26 got platinum plaques… I mean, I don’t know what else he supposed to do…
Black Rob-Prison
Shyne-Prison->Judaism->Belize
Lox-moved to Ruff Riders, then on to greater success, especially Kiss and Styles
Loon-converted to Islam, went on a hajj
Mario Winans-his family probably talked to him
Total-they couldn’t really sing, word to showtime at the apollo, and they’re lucky that Puff did as much as he did
Craig Mack-I’m campaigning for a comeback, he was nice IMO
G-Dep–arrested for wylin at a t-mobile store, bail was only $750 but he had to stay for 30 days because he couldn’t come up with the money, this was like 07 i think, Diddy still coulda helped that man out with that, now he’s working on another album

And Chopper was signed to Bad Boy South.
But he’s an idiot and ruined that opportunity.
He had warrants so the deal he signed wasn’t even in his real name…that’s why there’s royalty money sitting there that he’ll never receive.
There is a lot of good music that’s come out of Bad Boy. And you know what? I realized that Diddy was a smart businessman, because no other record executive could have made money off Da Band, but buy making them a TV show he made them profitable
yall niggas might think Puff is cool… but no one who has actually like worked for this nigga seems to confirm your faith in him … he’s alternately a liar, thief, snake, crook, tyrant, and confirmed homo… his dozens of character references speak for themselves … son should be avoided like an open cesspool …

Brick, the results speak for themselves, and its not like Puff is the only label exec that this shit has happened to. Lest we forget Roc-A-Fellas “roster” of artists, or Def Jam, or Elektra, or Tommy Boy, or Death Row, etc. All these niggas got GRAVEYARDS of one and done artists, or artists who have fucked up their own career, or artists who have never seen the light of day. And you can’t say Puff’s artists are failures- They all reached some level of success, but for the most part, they fucked it up or fucked it off, just like most of the artists that came out during that era. I’m not saying puff doesn’t have a nickel in that dime (my granpas favorite saying), but he gets an unusual share of the blame, when there are plenty of other execs with the same (or larger) body count.

since BIG died and Mase retired…Puff hasn’t really pushed a rapper on Badboy…he just put out these Danity Kane broads out and a couple other pop groups…but for the most part the only artist that gonna get serious promotion is Puff with his albums….
^
news flash: what you just described is Puffy’s M.O. since 1998. you should probably wikipedia all of the former BadBoy artists that Puffy has NOT successfully promoted since Mase’s first joint. the list is ridiculous. all you get is one album with Puff. . .unless you die or preach. otherwise, it’s one and done – no matter what! if you are lucky enough to get a second album on BadBoy, Puffy probably won’t know about it.
Black Rob
Shyne
Lox
Loon
Mario Winans
Total
Craig Mack
G-Dep
and i know there’s more.
^^^

Shyne-Prison->Judaism->Belize
