Unlike most artists who are strong-armed into doing R&B records by their labels, Ghost says that “Wizard Of Poetry” was a passion project that he’d always wanted to do.
But he was always advised against it for fear of alienating his fanbase. So with only one album left owed to Def Jam, he decided to finally do it.
“I gave the fans mad years of my life. Let me do something that Ghostface wanna do for a change. And then I’ll get back to you.”
He says he was very happy with the end result but attributes the poor sales to what he felt was a lack of promotion. “Whatever, whatever, I’ll take that one on the cheek and keep it moving. I wasn’t never mad at it.”
For the record, it was definitely promoted heavily online…
The Decon crew was out in Austin, TX in full force for SXSW 2010 with Dilated Peoples along with Alchemist and Oh No (Gangrene.)
