Video: Nah Right & The Smoking Section’s Grand Ole Party 2010

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

First and foremost, I wanna thank each and every person who made their way out to the Rumbler Lounge last Thursday for the 2010 edition of NR and The Smoking Section‘s Grand Ole Party in Austin. I’ll be honest and say that I was skeptical about our chances of outdoing last year’s event, but I think it’s safe to say that WE FUCKING KILLED IT. Or more accurately, all of these amazing artists who graced us with their presence killed it. I mean, I knew we had a dope lineup, and I’ve seen a bunch of these guys rock before, but it wasn’t until I was standing there watching this shit play out that it hit me how much talent we had in the building. So here’s a preliminary sampling of footage, I’ll be posting more as I come across it/get it in. Once again, huge thanks to all of the artists and fans for their support of the Nah Right and TSS brands and Aaron Berkowitz and Jill Sorrells off Knucklerumbler for all of their hard work.

Marky – Rasta Monsta

On Saturday night I caught up on last week’s episode of How To Make It In America and as a result I spent all day yesterday with Aloe Blacc’s “I Need A Dollar”, the show’s opening theme, in my head. That’s a catchy little tune he’s got there.  Then last night I caught the new episode and I woke up again today humming it.  I just feel like it could use some more rapping on it.

So here’s D.C. MC Marky’s take on it.

Thirstin Howl III captures the essence of 40 Deuce in the 80′s over the “Canal Street” instrumental before taking a trip up north over “10 Bricks”.
