Video: Phonte Speaks on LB vs. 9th Wonder

After Phonte decided to leak Star yesterday with an accompanying message, 9th Wonder replied to a fan concerning the situation and Phonte felt a certain way about it. Words were exchanged, their friends and fans tried to intervene, and it all led to this video.

very well. let me rephrase the question. was the term “crossover” popularized because of Tim Hardaway stans in the media?

not on your life. w/o the steroids controversy Bonds goes down in history as a very well accomplished nobody. he would’ve slid right into the hall of fame nice and quiet like. i’m not saying he didn’t have a ridiculously amazing career, but. . .without the steroids contro, he has ZERO impact culturally on the game of baseball. he did nothing to revolutionize sports. blame baseball for being a little bit more boring to watch than boxing. it is what it is.

  37. landlord Says:

During the 1989 season, Deion Sanders hit a major league home run and scored a touchdown in the NFL in the same week, the only player to ever do so. Sanders is also the only man to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series.

  38. landlord Says:

In four games of the 1992 World Series, Sanders batted .533 with 4 runs, 8 hits, 2 doubles, and 1 RBI while playing with a broken bone in his foot.

  39. landlord Says:

what has Miike Tyson really done though?..

the niggas he beat were bums.. when he fought real talent (lennox lewis, an in shape Buster Douglas), he got his ass whipped…

Mike Tyson may be the overrated sports personality ever… his fame was due more to his retarded behavior and his menacing persona, than his actual athletic endeavors … he was a pop star, moreso than a great athlete…

    Carl Lewis > Mike Tyson

    ^
both very reasonable arguments. Bo had the Biggie effect on the game. he accomplished a shitload of statistical & cultural acclaim in a ridiculously small amount of time. Deion had raw gifted talent, BUT. . .he probably won’t make the HOF b/c of his lack of statistical accomplishments. great showman. changed the game every time he stepped on the field. hopefully, that will be enough to get him in the HOF. as far as Deion’s baseball career goes. . . .ehhh. again, it was all smoke & mirrors. dude was lightning fast, and Nike did an excellent PR job with both him and Bo.

now, how you go about comparing this to Tyson is beyond me, but Tyson easily has the edge in my mind. and always will.

  42. landlord Says:

and yeah, Holyfield whooped Tysons ass a couple times too… Tyson is/was a media creation who couldnt handle life on the pedastal that he was erroneously, and prematurely, placed upon …

  43. rex hussla Says:

I’ve watched John Wall play about six times and I don’t see the hype…he’s good, don’t get me wrong but as far as college point guards Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, sheeeit even the last two to come out of UCLA seemed a lot better than him.

don’t get it twisted, homie. trust me, i believe that statistically Barry Bonds accomplished God-like numbers. i have a great appreciation for that aspect of his legacy. what i’m saying is that Tyson electrified an entire generation just by breathing. Bonds? not so much. and without the roids thing to tarnish his legacy, Bonds’ name would ONLY ever be mentioned in conversations between ultra diehard baseball fans.

dog, this just further proves my point. this is movie script shit. dominating his sport was a burden. how can you not appreciate this?!? i know you’re a sports junkie and your faith lies solely in numbers/stats. but it’s the HUMAN element that draws the adulation of society. the human element is the flawed, electric, emotional aspect of sports that you can’t put a number on. Tyson was the personification of this.

again, it’s almost like you’re agreeing with me. Tyson was born and bred to destroy. he gained fame/fortune/notoriety from absolute destruction. he was a teenager. Kobe sodomized a hotel clerk. white America doesn’t fear Kobe like they did Mike. Kobe retains his freedom. everyone else on your list had an army of PR soldiers to protect them from fucking their endorsment deals (with the exception of probably KG) at their disposal.

As i’ve said before, greatest and best are not
the same thing. When his career is over, they’ll say Kanye was one of the greatest rappers ever. But he probably won’t be the best. Sometimes the best and the greatest or the same people, but just like Tupac wasn’t the best rapper from a technical standpoint, he’s still known as one of the GOATS. Or how most of slaughterhouse is among the “best” rappers out from a lyrical standpoint, none of those guys are even close to a greatness convo…and Royce is one of my favorite rappers since Rock City

would you let him date your mom, sister, aunties, or daughters?

okay. I’ll play. Sure, I’d let Mike Tyson date my daughter. Why do you ask?

oh please… thats self defeatist Christian based drivel… bottom line is man has control over his own desires and behaviors… everyone (not just Tyson) is faced with choices between right and wrong good and evil whether it makes the national news or the neighborhood barbershop gossip… these celebrities burdens aint no more or less than mines or yours … the reason some of them get in more trouble than others, is cause SOME have no innate self control or common sense… a truly great man who makes an impact on society, does his best to maintain self control…Tyson never did this… thats why he ends up defending rape cases and paternity suits… he’s a career fuck up… how is that great by any stretch of imagination?

only idolatrous people would say another man’s road is so more more difficult than his own… what part of life is that?

as far as choices that lead you to the pen, Mike didn’t rape that girl. He went down on her…not exactly SOP for a rape. Mike’s decision that sent him to the pen was to answer/send a booty call with Desiree. So if that’s the right or wrong basic decision that sent him to jail, a lot of Nah would be locked up.

contrary to popular belief, there are THREE sides to every story: what he said, what she said, and the truth. most likely neither one of them told the latter

  129. Fresh Huxtable Says:

Mike was just so scary to those people that they couldn’t believe that Desiree would have actually had sex with him of her own free will. To this day, Mike has a few good things to say about Robin Givens, but calls Desiree a swine. Mike is a lot of things, but one thing he doesn’t seem to be is a liar. He’s done the time already, so I’m inclined to believe him.
